The Best Of: Beautiful Book Covers #1

There’s no doubt in my mind that when it comes to talking about the most beautiful book covers, for me the most stunning covers always come from young adult fantasy. I find that it is my most read genre however this is not always intentional. I’m always drawn into a book by its cover, which I know goes against the whole ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ idea, but I can’t help myself. If I see a beautiful cover I instantly want to read the book. With that being said here are a few (of many) of my favourite book covers. (I will also be including the Goodreads synopsis of all the books for those whose interests are piqued by the covers)

The Night Country (The Hazel Wood #2) by Melissa Albert

Although it has quite a simplistic design, this simplicity coupled with the blue sprayed edges makes for a stunning cover. It is not very noticeable from the photo however the foliage surrounding the outer sides of the cover are foil and for me, any book with foiling on the cover is a winner.

Goodreads synopsis: “The highly anticipated sequel to Melissa Albert’s beloved, New York Times bestselling debut The Hazel Wood!

In The Night Country, Alice Proserpine dives back into a menacing, mesmerizing world of dark fairy tales and hidden doors. Follow her and Ellery Finch as they learn The Hazel Wood was just the beginning, and that worlds die not with a whimper, but a bang.

With Finch’s help, Alice escaped the Hinterland and her reclusive grandmother’s dark legacy. Now she and the rest of the dregs of the fairy tale world have washed up in New York City, where Alice is trying to make a new, unmagical life. But something is stalking the Hinterland’s survivors―and she suspects their deaths may have a darker purpose. Meanwhile, in the winking out world of the Hinterland, Finch seeks his own adventure, and―if he can find it―a way back home…”

The Air Awakens series by Elise Kova

Okay, so this one is cheating slightly as honestly, I could not choose just one cover from this series as my favourite. They are all simply stunning. I actually read this entire series on my kindle and to still think that the covers are amazing, even in black and white, proves just how much I love them.

All of Elise’s books have amazing covers, however, I am yet to read another of her series.

Goodreads synopsis: “A library apprentice, a sorcerer prince, and an unbreakable magic bond…

The Solaris Empire is one conquest away from uniting the continent, and the rare elemental magic sleeping in seventeen-year-old library apprentice Vhalla Yarl could shift the tides of war.

Vhalla has always been taught to fear the Tower of Sorcerers, a mysterious magic society, and has been happy in her quiet world of books. But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all—the Crown Prince Aldrik—she finds herself enticed into his world. Now she must decide her future: Embrace her sorcery and leave the life she’s known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she’s always been. And with powerful forces lurking in the shadows, Vhalla’s indecision could cost her more than she ever imagined.”

Rebel of the Sands (Rebel of the Sands #1) by Alwyn Hamilton

Yet another book that has foiling on the cover, what a surprise. This is the first book in a series of amazing covers. I have only read the first book however I have seen just beautiful the rest of the series is and I’m planning to finish my collection.

The blues paired with the gold foiling makes for a very aesthetically pleasing cover which I would say is the biggest factor for me picking up this book.

Goodreads synopsis: “Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mythical beasts still roam the wild and remote areas, and rumour has it that somewhere, djinn still perform their magic.  For humans, it’s an unforgiving place, especially if you’re poor, orphaned, or female.

Amani Al’Hiza is all three. She’s a gifted gunslinger with perfect aim, but she can’t shoot her way out of Dustwalk, the back-country town where she’s destined to wind up wed or dead.

Then she meets Jin, a rakish foreigner, in a shooting contest, and sees him as the perfect escape route. But though she’s spent years dreaming of leaving Dustwalk, she never imagined she’d gallop away on mythical horse—or that it would take a foreign fugitive to show her the heart of the desert she thought she knew.

Rebel of the Sands reveals what happens when a dream deferred explodes—in the fires of rebellion, of romantic passion, and the all-consuming inferno of a girl finally, at long last, embracing her power”
