The Best Of: Beautiful Book Covers #4

I am slowly becoming notorious for being a bit shallow when it comes to book covers, so it will come as no surprise that I am yet again talking about more of my favourite covers.

YA books are continuously stepping up their game when it comes to beautiful covers and I’ll admit I’m a sucker for buying a book because of its cover.

Before getting into the post I just want to apologise for it being quite short. I’ve been working a lot this week and I’ve received a lot of ARCs that need reading so I’ve not had much time for other posts. So sorry, I promise there are some really great posts coming up over the next few weeks that I’m sure you will love.

*I will be including the Goodreads synopsis of all the books for those whose interests are piqued by the covers*

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

This was a recent read for me, well I read it in Septemeber but I’ll be honest October is not going well for me reading-wise.

All of Margaret’s books have beautiful covers and I actually mentioned her other book An Enchantment of Ravens in one of my previous book cover posts.

I love the colours on this cover and the art style is beautiful and we all know how much I LOVE Charlie Bowater. I honestly think I would buy any book if she designed the cover.

Goodreads synopsis: “All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery—magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power.

Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire. Elisabeth’s desperate intervention implicates her in the crime, and she is torn from her home to face justice in the capital. With no one to turn to but her sworn enemy, the sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn, and his mysterious demonic servant, she finds herself entangled in a centuries-old conspiracy. Not only could the Great Libraries go up in flames, but the world along with them.

As her alliance with Nathaniel grows stronger, Elisabeth starts to question everything she’s been taught—about sorcerers, about the libraries she loves, even about herself. For Elisabeth has a power she has never guessed, and a future she could never have imagined.”

All This Time by Rachael Lippincott and Mikki Daughtry

I recently reviewed this book which you can find here. Both authors actually acknowledged my review on Instagram and Twitter and I almost cried a little.

Again, both of the books by Rachael and Mikki have beautiful covers and I mentioned Five Feet Apart in my last cover post. They are quite simplistic but I think that’s what I love about them.

I am a huge fan of flowers on book covers, which is probably obvious by now. And the blocky purples with the pop of colour from the yellow is so aesthetically pleasing to me.

Goodreads synopsis: “Kyle and Kimberly have been the perfect couple all through high school, but when Kimberly breaks up with him on the night of their graduation party, Kyle’s entire world upends—literally. Their car crashes and when he awakes, he has a brain injury. Kimberly is dead. And no one in his life could possibly understand.

Until Marley. Marley is suffering from her own loss, a loss she thinks was her fault. And when their paths cross, Kyle sees in her all the unspoken things he’s feeling.

As Kyle and Marley work to heal each other’s wounds, their feelings for each other grow stronger. But Kyle can’t shake the sense that he’s headed for another crashing moment that will blow up his life as soon as he’s started to put it back together.

And he’s right.”

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

We all know how much I LOVE Will Herondale and I don’t know why I haven’t mentioned Clockwork Angel yet. I’m honestly not a huge fan of the original book covers, although I will admit that I own both versions of The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments.

I feel like the newer covers are a little more understated and I love the character design a lot more. I’m starting to notice that I really like blue themed book covers.

I’d be interested in seeing if people prefer the new or original covers. Let me know in the comments.

Goodreads synopsis: “In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them…”
