Music Review: Undone by Tough On Fridays

Undone is the latest release from Texas grunge-rock band Tough On Fridays. Back in November, I gave a great review for their debut album A Fantastic Way To Kill Some Time (read it here) and today I will be doing the same for their new single.

The band have been together since 2017 and have since released a multitude of singles and EPs. Undone is Tough On Friday’s first release of 2021 and I have no doubt that they have more exciting releases planned for this year.

Opening with a dark bassline the track has instantly piqued my attention. I am already getting a vibe that this release will be the band’s grittiest yet.

Caleigh’s vocals are in quick pursuit and as always they are sweet yet unapologetic. Telling the story of a friendship tainted by selfishness, the track produces Caleigh’s most impassioned performance to date.

The lyrics soar over the fuzz filled bass leaving you in great anticipation for the drums and guitars to kick in. And kick in they do. Thumping drums and distorted guitars are soon in the mix and the energy of Undone skyrockets.

Packed to the brim with angst and pent up emotion Undone is Tough On Fridays greatest work to date. Already I am in anticipation for what they will release next.
