Music Review: DRIFTER by APEX

DRIFTER is the latest release from St. Albans based band APEX. Since their formation in 2018, they have released four singles and amassed impressive online coverage. The band is made up of Christian Thomas on lead vocals, Alex White on vocals and guitar, Jacob Trigg on guitar, Max Hood on bass and backing vocals and Ben Collins on drums and backing vocals.

APEX has been staying active during the pandemic with Chris, Max, Alex and Jacob posting covers on the bands Instagram page.

DRIFTER shines a light on that fact that no matter what troubles you face as long as you weather the storm better things are sure to come your way.

The track opens with vibrant guitars that are reminiscent of 80s power pop. The chirpy guitar riff is an instant mood booster and you will find you can’t help but move when listening to DRIFTER

Christian’s vocals have a lovely deep timbre. Soaring over the compelling rhythm created by the crunchy bass and thumping drums, his tone has a slight grit which gives DRIFTER a rocky edge.

Keeping a casual coolness throughout, the track holds a constant level of energy which gives it massive replayability.

DRIFTER is a promising fourth release from the quintet. The success already gained from the track shows that APEX is a band destined for great things. I’d definitely keep an eye on this band if I were you.
