To Be Read: October 2021

October’s to be read post is going to be short and sweet. I have an idea for some really fun, festive posts next month so I’m going to be spending most of my time organising those. For that reason (and the mountain of Christmas arcs I still have to read) I have only chosen one book. However, it is one that I think will be a great autumn/fall read.

The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

*For some reason every time I upload this image to WordPress the quality becomes absolute garbage. I promise this picture is not blurry in the slightest.*

I would be lying if I said that the cover isn’t the only reason I brought this book. Well actually the title sounds interesting also, but just look at it.

This will be my first book by Kiran and I’m super excited to read it. I’ve always seen her books online and in shops and they all look so good. Now I know not to judge a book by it’s cover and honestly I haven’t actually heard anything about this book, just that people like the cover so I’m super excited to share my opinions with you.

Let me know if you would like to see a full review of this book on Young Creative Press.

Goodreads synopsis: “They say the thirst of blood is like a madness – they must sate it. Even with their own kin.

On the eve of her divining, the day she’ll discover her fate, seventeen-year-old Lil and her twin sister Kizzy are captured and enslaved by the cruel Boyar Valcar, taken far away from their beloved traveller community.

Forced to work in the harsh and unwelcoming castle kitchens, Lil is comforted when she meets Mira, a fellow slave who she feels drawn to in a way she doesn’t understand. But she also learns about the Dragon, a mysterious and terrifying figure of myth and legend who takes girls as gifts.

They may not have had their divining day, but the girls will still discover their fate…”

I do have plans to read more books than just this one, obviously. However, I will be honest and say I am currently being super lazy and can’t be bothered to take pictures for them. Sorry!

Once it gets to November/December I will be a whole month ahead on posts so this is now my promise that I will have more time to up the quality of my posts. Apologies that my posts have been so sporadic and not so great for the last however many months, I’m still finding it hard to balance working and blogging.
