I’m going to be honest and admit that February really got away from me. Behind on reviews and not having time to read has meant that I didn’t get a chance to read my review copies for last month. For this reason I am including Squire in this post again this month.
SQUIRE BY SARA ALFAGEEH AND NADIA SHAMMAS

*I was given an arc of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review.*
I know this won’t take me very long to get through but for some reason I kept forgetting about it. Last month I realised I’m not great at remembering publication dates. I definitely need to get better at this.
I’m still super excited to get started with this and to make sure I actually get through it I will be starting it tonight.
Goodreads synopsis: Aiza has always dreamt of becoming a Knight. It’s the highest military honour in the once-great Bayt-Sajji Empire, and as a member of the subjugated Ornu people, Knighthood is her only path to full citizenship. Ravaged by famine and mounting tensions, Bayt-Sajji finds itself on the brink of war once again, so Aiza can finally enlist in the competitive Squire training program.
It’s not how she imagined it, though. Aiza must navigate new friendships, rivalries, and rigorous training under the unyielding General Hende, all while hiding her Ornu background. As the pressure mounts, Aiza realizes that the “greater good” that Bayt-Sajji’s military promises might not include her, and that the recruits might be in greater danger than she ever imagined.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I remember this book being published and I really wanted to read it. For some reason I never brought it. Back in 2020, I got the entire series in a sale for very cheap and I still haven’t gotten around to it.
Now I will be honest and say that I have started this already. I actually started it early February but haven’t touched it since. Now I’m not the type of person to give up on a book so I will 100% read it in March.
Let me know what you think of this series because I have seen some seriously mixed reviews.
Goodreads synopsis: I have a curse
I have a gift
I am a monster
I’m more than human
My touch is lethal
My touch is power
I am their weapon
I will fight back
Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong colour.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
