Mid-Year Wrap-Up: 2022 Reading Goals Update

It’s crazy to think that we are already over halfway through 2022, it feels like just yesterday I was setting my reading goals for the year. If you want to check out my reading goals for 2022 you can do so here.

I haven’t thought much about my goals, other than my Goodreads challenge, pretty much since I set them. Bad I know. So today I thought why not take a look at them and see how many I’ve achieved by the midway point. I won’t lie my hopes are not high.

Let’s remind ourselves of my 2022 reading goals and talk a little about my progress:

1. Take more time to read the books I already own

I’ve actually not been doing too badly with this one. I have been making a conscious effort to read the books I already own, so far I’ve read six. I know this doesn’t sound like a lot, but when you read as many ARCs as I do it’s actually quite impressive.

2. Finish the series I started in early 2020

I set this goal so I would finally finish Throne of Glass, however, I know despise the author so I will never be continuing with the series. They are a seriously bad person and I know I’ll probably lose followers/readers for saying that, but I don’t care, it’s true.

This goal was also set with the intention of FINALLY finishing The Raven Cycle. I have made progress by reading Blue Lily, Lily Blue back in April and I have plans to finish the series at some point this summer.

3. At least two re-reads of my favourite books

The only re-reads I’ve done this year is the Heartstopper series and that wasn’t what I had in mind when setting this goal. I really want to re-read The Lunar Chronicles as it’s one of my favourite series but I really don’t think I’ll have time to do so.

4. Finally read the books I have been putting on my TBR for months now

This is such a vague goal that even I don’t know what I meant. I’ve been pretty good lately at not adding many books to my TBR unless I have a real intention to read them. Is that what I intended for this goal? I have no idea.

5. Lower my usual reading goal of 60 books to 50

This is definitely the most interesting goal. At the start of the year I thought 60 books was going to be way too many, especially after the scramble I did in December to complete my goal. I’m now laughing at myself for this as I am currently sitting at 62 books read this year with an extended goal of 100 books. 2022 is my biggest goal to date and I have no doubts that I will actually complete it.

I know a lot of people will say half of my reads don’t count as they are graphic novels, but I like to include everything I read, as you know it’s a reading goal. I’m very proud of my challenge progress so far.
