It may sound crazy to a lot of my new readers, but Young Creative Press actually started as a music blog. From the constant stream of book content you’ve seen over the past year and a half, it’s hard to believe, but my love of writing originally stemmed from music.
Since graduating with my music journalism degree I haven’t thought once of writing music reviews. This mostly being because I was working in retail full-time and I didn’t have free time to commit to tight release schedules. Well, that’s something that I am now working to change. For the last week or so I’ve been planning music posts and I’m feeling very excited to get writing music reviews again. My first review will be posted on Sunday!
My return to music reviews will also be accompanied by posts of my gig photography. I don’t talk much about being a photographer on here as I never felt like my photos were good enough to share. However, I’m now at a point with it where I’m really happy with how the photos look and I’m also working with local bands on a regular basis. My photography business has a long way to go, but I’m hoping by showcasing my work on here I will be able to gain more clients.
If you have a release coming up or are a Brighton band/musician in need of a photographer feel free to contact me at melissa@youngcreativepress.com

Congratulations on this big step and change (or change back!)!
Thank you! I’m feeling quite nervous about it at the moment though
That’s natural when it’s new–it means you care! I hope the nerves manage to turn into excitement, and it’s all that you’re hoping it will be.
