Best Character of The Episode

I’ve got to give it to Nick this episode. He discovers a lot about himself and Kit Connor does an incredible job, especially in the opening scene. The inner turmoil he goes through in this episode really allows his character to grow and honestly, he’s just so cute in this episode.

Best supporting character

I wasn’t really sure who to mention in this episode as it is very Nick and Charlie heavy. Tara and Darcy are very important in episode three, but are they main characters or supporting characters? Personally, I’d say main as they are two of my favourites, but for the purpose of this section, they are supporting characters.

Favourite scenes

I mean this has to go to the kiss right? It would feel illegal not to mention it here. The build-up, the tension, the cuteness. It makes me tear up every time. Joe and Kit gave an oscar-worthy performance in this scene.

The blooming flowers when they kiss properly for the first time, potentially my favourite ‘Heartstopper moment’.

I also love the moment where Tara and Darcy stop caring what other people think and kiss at Harry’s party. This whole sequence is actually really cool with the background rainbow animations. I watched a video on how they created the animations and it was really interesting.

Best Quotes/Lines

I’ll be honest and say that his episode is not great for iconic lines. The majority of the episode is spent at Harry’s party and while there are some very cute moments, but this section is more for funny lines.

“Why are you hanging out in here? Bit boring isn’t it?” Harry just fully dissed his own party which I find hilarious. He really is such an unlikable character.

“That’s homophobic Harry, and I really don’t like you” finished with a snarky “happy birthday” from Nick. Yeah, you tell him, Nick! He was on form in this episode.

Nick challenges Charlie to a race at Harry’s party so they can find somewhere quiet to talk. From this, we are treated to the best bit of dialogue in the episode. Nick: “I’m dying” Charlie: “It’s because you’re old” Ok flirty Charlie I wondered when you would have an appearance in this episode.

Favourite outfit

I love the outfit Darcy wears to Harry’s party, an actual style icon. It’s a long sleeve mesh shirt with a black denim skirt. Definitely, something I’d wear myself.

Favourite Setting

The hotel where Harry has his party is insane, just how rich are his parents? Probably the coolest place you could have your 16th birthday party.

Best Musical Moment

There’s an absolutely awful song playing when Charlie first arrives at Harry’s party. Which may lead you to think why am I mentioning it? Well, I like this moment purely for Harry’s awful dancing which is very funny.

Clearest Blue by CHVRCHES is one of the most joyful moments in a TV show I have ever since. The pure happiness from Tara and Darcy, when they are finally showing their true selves, is such a special moment. Also seeing how happy Nick is for them is endearing, he definitely realised something in that moment.

Other thoughts/opinions that don’t fit into a specific category

The lighting in this episode is phenomenal. When Nick is standing in the crowd at Harry’s party he is lit up in blue, purple and pink. Which for those who don’t know is the colour of the bisexual flag. Such a small detail but it’s so

I don’t hate Imogen’s character but I hate that when she’s talking to Nick at the party she acts like she’s drunk. C’mon Imogen we all know you are better than that. Understandably though she is a teenager and this is a very teen thing to do at a party with all of your friends. Also big props to her for telling Nick that she likes him, very brave.
