Games That Should Have Adaptations

Games being adapted for TV/film is something I am yet to see be done successfully. We all remember the awful Assassins Creed film and let’s not mention anything Resident Evil. I do believe that studios are getting better with their adaptations of books, so why not with games too?!

There are so many games with great storylines and visuals so why not adapt them into films and TV shows for even more people to enjoy?

Bloodborne

The art style/direction of this game is absolutely phenomenal. Victorian gothic is such a vibe and it’s one of the reasons why I love this game so much.

I’m thinking this would work best as an animated series as it’s the safest way to ensure the art style would be correct. If that makes sense? I’d hate it to be live-action and the CGI/VFXs are awful. There are a lot of very detailed monsters in this game and it would be a shame for them to be ruined.

The story of Bloodborne is extremely interesting and it is dripping in lore. I still don’t know a lot about this game and I’ve seen others play it many times. There is a lot to uncover and having a long format adaptation would work well.

Game synopsis: Bloodborne follows the player’s character, a Hunter, through the decrepit Gothic, Victorian-era–inspired city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants are afflicted with a blood-borne disease which transforms the residents, called Yharnamites, into horrific beasts.

Bioshock

Now I’m a little annoyed with myself for sitting on this post for so long because I had loads I wanted to say about this game and why it should have an adaptation and then a few weeks ago Netflix just went ahead and announced one. I’m very happy about it as it is one of my favourite games series (that I’ve actually played).

I really think the story of Bioshock would translate well into a show. I know that Netflix is doing a film but if we were to talk about the entire Bioshock universe and not just the first game, then a show would be better. There’s a lot of lore around Rapture to uncover and with a show you have so much more time to do so. I really hope they don’t mess it up.

Also, can I say the visuals for an adaptation of this game could be incredible. I can’t wait to see how they create Rapture and I’m even more excited to see Big Daddies come to life, I hope they actually make them rather than just using CGI/VFX but I doubt it.

I know this technically shouldn’t be on this post now as it is actually getting an adaptation but I already spent time writing this section so I’m not going to cut it. Plus I believe it should be a TV show, not a film.
