Best Character of The Episode
This should probably be in the best scenes section but I’ve decided to include it here. When Rory arrives late for her test and she just goes off at Paris is one of the funniest things she has ever done. It’s the first time you see Rory not being the sweet girl she usually is and I love savage Rory. Especially when she screams “And for the last time – the name’s RORY!” at Tristan.
Best Supporting/Obscure Character
I’m giving it to Drella again. The interaction between her and Michel is so funny.
Favourite Scene
When Rory is sitting in Luke’s studying, the whole atmosphere screams cosy and comfort to me. I love the interaction between her and Luke and then the whole back and forth with Lorelai.
Best Quotes/Lines
LORELAI: Now these erasers are on lithium so they may seem cheerful but we actually caught them trying to shove themselves in the pencil sharpener earlier.
RORY: I’m going home now.
LORELAI: No wait! We’re going to stage an intervention with the neon post-its and make them give up their wacky crazy ways.
Lorelai and Rory are shopping for Rory’s school supplies and she refuses a purple notepad as she goes to a serious school now. Lorelai thinks this is ridiculous so starts doing what she does best and goes on a hilarious ramble.
[Drella runs her harp into Michel.]
MICHEL: Aah! You imbecile!
DRELLA: Back off chevalier.
MICHEL: You’re stupid, blind and clumsy.
DRELLA: Well at least I’m not French.
Not much to say on this other than it made me laugh. So blunt.
LORELAI: News is on.
RORY: One sec.
LORELAI: [to herself]For our top story tonight, a grisly horrible thing that happened in a small town where not grisly horrible things ever happen. Everyone’s shocked. House slides down hill. Liposuction kills, stay fat. [turns off tv] Hey let’s get ice cream. I’m bored. [goes into kitchen where Rory is studying] Hello?
Another hilarious rant from Lorelai. I love that she has no filter when she does this and it seems like anything and everything will come out of her mouth.
[Rory’s sitting at a table, tries to write but the tip of her pencil breaks. She throws it in frustration.]
LUKE: Here.
RORY: What’s that?
LUKE: You look like you need pie.
RORY: I do?
LUKE: Violent pencil tossing usually signals the need for pie.
RORY: What if I’d thrown a pen?
LUKE: I would’ve brought you a trout.
RORY: What?
LUKE: I don’t make the rules, I just carry them out.
Luke is one of those characters that is lowkey the funniest. He’s always so serious even when making jokes. I do love him though.
LORELAI: It went very well. I was extremely charming. I won the whole crowd over. They made me queen.
She’s so charming and funny, I love Lorelai.
RORY: I just got hit by a deer.
LANE: You hit a deer?
RORY: No! I got hit by a deer!
LANE: How do you get hit by a deer?
RORY: I was at a stop sign and he just hit me! Oh my God!
This will never not be funny. Only Rory could get hit by a deer rather than her hitting the deer. This episode has to be one of the funniest.
Favourite Outfit
Lorelai always has cool outfits and I especially love the lilac shirt and leather skirt combo she wears to Chilton. It feels very fitting for the current fashion trends, proving once again how timeless Gilmore Girls is.
Favourite Setting
It’s most likely always going to be Luke’s in this section.
Best Musical Moment
I didn’t have any in this episode. There are many musical moments in this series.
Thoughts/Opinions That Don’t Fit Into A Specific Category
The blatant flirting from Mr Medina for Lorelai on the message he left Rory is extremely weird. Also are teachers allowed to call students? That seems strange to me.
