Best Character

It would be wrong not to choose Sabrina for this episode, wouldn’t it? I absolutely love her and seeing a darker side to a character I grew up with is something I didn’t know I needed. This version of Sabrina is my favourite, even though I am named after the original Sabrina; Melissa Joan Hart.

Best Supporting/Obscure Character

It’s obviously Salem. Who wouldn’t choose Salem? Unfortunately, he isn’t in the show much as they found out after the first episode that Kiernan is allergic to cats. I love it when he does make an appearance though.

I love when we meet Salem for the first time. His natural form is super creepy, I love it. I wish we got to see him this way more often, it would really add to the creepiness of the show.

Favourite Scenes

I love the scene where Harvey is chasing Sabrina on the way back to her house, it’s super cute. I’m not a fan of Sabrina and Harvey as a couple but this was the last time she got to act like an actual teenager. It’s very bittersweet.

The chase (I don’t know why I love chase scenes so much) in the haybale maze is both exhilarating and terrifying. The scarecrow creature is freaky as hell, but that’s kind of why I love it. There aren’t many moments that are actually scary in this show, but this one is definitely one of them.

Best Quotes/Lines

SABRINA: In the town of Greendale, where it always feels like Halloween, there lived a girl who is half-witch, half-mortal, who, on her 16th birthday, would have to choose between two worlds: the witch world of her family, and the human world of her friends. My name is Sabrina Spellman, and that girl is me.

This opens the entire show so it has to be one of the best quotes.

ZELDA: Sabrina, you need to pick a familiar before your dark baptism. The Council sent the registry. I’ve, uh, indicated a few suitable options. Now, there’s a very handsome hedgehog, a noble-looking owl. Vinegar Tom would happily welcome another dog.

I always forget about Vinegar Tom, he’s so cute. I’d love to be a witch and have a familiar, how cool would that be?

I also love the idea of a hedgehog being handsome.

SABRINA: Succubitches.

I can’t tell if this line is genius or very cringe. I love it either way.

HILDA: A young man has just been stabbed. His mother and father are coming to see us. Poor, poor dears.

ZELDA: ( chuckles ) Praise Satan.

This will never not be funny. Zelda has to be the most iconic character in this entire show. I remember the ‘praise Satan’ meme being absolutely everywhere when this came out. I love it.

Favourite Outfit

The iconic red coat has to be mentioned here. Especially with the black headband, Kiernan looks so cute but also very young in this episode.

Best Musical Moment

I don’t know if I’ll include this category for every episode, however, the opening theme needs a mention. It’s so spooky and as I’ve mentioned before I love music that creeps me out slightly.

Thoughts/Opinions That Don’t Fit Into A Specific Category

I cannot watch the scene with the spiders. It really freaks me out, I love seeing Sabrina be evil though.

I’m so excited to be watching Chilling Adventures of Sabrina again. I’ve been looking for an excuse (not that I need one) to watch it again and this way of doing so is very fun. It was a stroke of genius from me to start reviewing this show on Halloween, unfortunately, I misremembered the first episode as I thought it was the one with Sabrina’s birthday. Oh well, it still makes sense to do this today.

I have to end this post with a happy birthday to Sabrina Spellman and a happy Halloween to you all.
