God of War – Jacksepticeye
Episodes: 11
This playthrough was the first time I experienced this game and I pretty much instantly fell in love. Everything about it makes my heart sing.
I’m not very clued up on Norse mythology so I don’t understand all of the lore, but the best thing about God of War is that you learn a lot throughout.
The first thing I absolutely must talk about is the insane art style and graphics. I love how the God of War games have great graphics, but still look like a game. I’m a huge fan of the hyperrealistic games that we are seeing more and more of these days, but I do like it when games look like games. If that makes sense?
The vastness of the landscapes is something I will always be in awe of with this series. Nothing better than having a ginormous snake just chilling in the background.
The acting is outstanding, I’m always so impressed by motion capture games. The movements aren’t anything special in this as it was a little before mo-cap really got good, but the acting is perfect, especially Sunny Suljic. Atreus is the best tiny boy and I would protect him with my life. I’d love for him to be cast in the upcoming adaptation, along with Christopher Judge, but he’s too old to play Atreus in this story now.
Sean’s playthrough, as with all of his, is so well done. I’m not saying he’s great at the game, he is, but he really gets invested and I love how he makes predictions throughout. It’s a really immersive series and is definitely one I will go back and watch time and time again. God of War has genuinely become one of my favourite games of all time after watching this.
Despite the episodes and the game being really long, they are super binge-able. I would literally sit and watch four episodes back to back and not even realise how much time was passing. I couldn’t get enough of the game, and Sean’s playthrough.
Watching someone explore a game to its full potential is really entertaining for me and I love that Sean takes his time doing side quests. There is also a companion live stream, not in this playlist for some reason, where Sean defeats all of the valkyries and completes more side quests. If you are planning to watch this series and want to see him do that, watch the stream before episode 11.
If you’ve ever considered watching a playthrough of God of War and haven’t gotten around to it yet, I would more than recommend this one. There are some audio issues with Sean’s audio being slightly out of sync with the game, but it’s really not offputting. Just means he reacts to some stuff a couple of seconds before it happens.
Once I’ve gotten through my huge backlog of series to watch I’ll definitely be returning to this one. It’s definitely in my top 5 series of all time.
