I’ve been doing these posts for a while now, and recently I started dreading sitting down and writing them. This was mostly down to me drawing an entirely new graphic for it every month, which would take me hours to do. So, now I’ve created a new graphic that I will use monthly which should help with my motivation.
Another part I really struggled with was both remembering what I’ve been watching and also writing about them in a cohesive way. Which is why the format of these posts has changed a little. I think I’ve now found the best way of doing these, for both myself and my readers.
Anyway, enough of that. On to what I watched in January!
Films
Knives Out & Glass Onion
I’d been meaning to watch Knives out for years now because I’d heard so many great things about it. I watched them backwards though, which technically doesn’t matter as they aren’t connected.
It might be a bit controversial to say, but I think I preferred Glass Onion. You knew less about the murder and I really liked the cast. Although the first one does have Chris Evans and I love him, but I didn’t enjoy it as much. It’s definitely still a very good film, but the isolated location of Glass Onion made it more intense.
Sonic 2
There are moments in this film that are massively cringe, as obviously, it’s for kids, but I still enjoyed it. There were moments that felt unnecessary though like the weird romance between the sister and FBI agent. Just wasn’t needed, especially in a kid’s film.
I love James Marsden though, and Tails was so cute – he’s my favourite character. Sonic 2 was definitely enjoyable and is a good easy watching film.
TV shows
Wednesday
Just like everyone else on the planet, I’ve now watched Wednesday and I really liked it. I really wasn’t a fan of the romance though, I’ve always seen Wednesday as someone who isn’t interested in love. I’m a big Addams Family fan though so it’s always great to see more of them.
Boo, Bitch
I actually really enjoyed this show, I watched the entire thing over two nights. The twist is easy to guess and there are quite a few moments that make it obvious, but it’s very enjoyable.
Lana Candor is great and it was fun to see her play a meaner character and Zoe Margaret Colletti was so charming and charismatic. She stole the scene every time she came on screen.
Schitt’s Creek
I’ve heard a lot of great things about this series and when I was browsing Netflix for something easy to watch it came up so I thought, why not? I’ve already watched season one and I’m now halfway through season two and it’s ok so far. I’m not fully convinced that it’s as good as everyone says as I’ve only found about two jokes funny, but they’re short so I’ll give it a bit longer.
If you’ve watched it and can vouch that it is hilarious and extremely good then please let me know.
The Last of Us
Oh. My. God. I am completely obsessed. Well, I already love the game, it’s one of my all-time favourites. But this show is perfection and I don’t say that lightly. Only two episodes are out so far and I’m already confident to say it’s going to be one of the best shows of the year.
I have a feeling the next episode is going to be one of the best of the entire season, so I don’t want to speak about the show too much in this month’s post. However, I’m loving everything about it; the casting, the effects, the story and the pacing. Incredible.
YouTube
Jacksepticeye – God of War: Ragnarok
What a game and what a series. I thoroughly enjoyed this playthrough, although it took me ages to get through which I think ruined the experience a little. Myself and my boyfriend started watching this playthrough when it was first uploaded but time got away from us and we did finish it until about two weeks ago. Now, if I was watching this on my own I would have binged it, but my boyfriend is like that. I get through YouTube gaming series at a ridiculous rate.
I’m not going to give an actual review of this here as there will be a post on it at some point. Not sure when as I have a ton of gaming series posts ready, but there definitely will be one in the future.
