Best worst character

I’m changing this section for this episode as I don’t particularly like anyone in this episode, well other than Luke and Sookie but they aren’t in it very long.

The worst episode of this episode is 100% Max. I hate this man with a burning passion and the fact that he wouldn’t even let Lorelai break up with him is horrific. Who cares if she may actually still have feelings for you, if she doesn’t want to be in the relationship you can’t have a massive tantrum like a toddler and not allow her to do it.

Best supporting character

I really liked Buttercup, she is what I would refer to as a ‘scruff dog’. She’s super cute and I loved her description at the adoption fair so much I’ve included it in the best quotes section.

Favourite scene

There’s a moment in the dinner scene with Emily, Lorelai and Rory that I’m pretty sure is unscripted. Alexis Bledel (Rory) seems to break character and it was so pure and authentically cute that I love it.

Best quotes and one liners

RORY: Buttercup is a special dog. She’s extremely skiddish and tends to react badly towards blonde haired females, brunette males, children of either sеx, other animals, red clothing, cabbage or anyone in a uniform.

SOOKIE: Ok, tea is ready. How are the feet?

LORELAI: I don’t know. They stopped talking to me.

RORY: Fine! Great! Well, maybe it’s time for the rules to change!

LORELAI: Yes, well that’s for me to figure out, not you!

RORY: Great! Fine! Well could you figure it out before French class because I’d rather you didn’t start making out with Mrs. Collins.

LORELAI: Hey no promises until I see what she looks like!

RORY: Well I’d take some dance lessons cause the way you express yourself needs a little work.

Best musical moment

Sookie singing Ricky Martin at Lorelai has to be mentioned. The scene itself is a little awkward as Sookie is calling out Lorelai for having a pattern with guys and Lorelai snaps at her. But I like that she sings it again after the moment has passed to annoy her.

Final thoughts and fun facts

I actually find Max to be a bit creepy with Rory. The whole ‘let’s give each other different names when we’re outside of school’ thing was weird.

Max also refers to the first stanza of the Dickinson poem as a verse, as an English teacher he should know that ‘verse’ as referring a grouping of lines in a poem is actually called a stanza and a verse refers to a line in a poem. He doesn’t even know the subject he teaches, god I hate him.

Lorelai is not a good person in this episode. She starts off by thinking the abuse she caused to her previous hamster is hilarious and then she’s really weird with Rory about Max. She wants to break up with him because she thinks Rory is getting attached after she referred to him by name once. It’s really weird and if she does have this ‘best friend’ relationship with Rory like she claims, then surely she could just speak to her about it?

Ok, so a positive note for this episode – Sookie and Jackson! It’s the beginning of their relationship and I flipping love them. Sookie is so sweet, she deserves all the nice things and now Lorelai can leave her alone about her not having a relationship in a while. Take that Lorelai.
