S1 EP13 – Concert Interruptus: Lorelai gives Rory, Paris, Madeline and Louise tickets to a Bangles concert, but the evening doesn’t go quite as planned.

Best character
Paris is in no way a nice person now, but she shows a lot of vulnerability and humility. You start to see her friendship with Rory grow and I actually quite like her in this episode.
Best supporting character
This obviously needs to go to the woman in the New York apartment building who when Lorelai knocks on the door answers with: “I don’t talk to anyone. People annoy me”. A relatable icon.
Favourite scene
I’m merging my favourite scene with the best musical moment as not a lot happens in this episode, but the Bangles concert is really cool. I loved the Bangles when I was a kid.
Best quotes and one liners
LANE: Um, kittens in the toilet poster?
RORY: Another one?
LANE: This one’s signed.
LOUISE: I find your mother completely fascinating.
RORY: Funny – so does she.
RORY: Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. They’ve basically just moved off the plan to dump the pig’s blood on me at the prom, that’s all.
LORELAI: Hey, you didn’t wake me up.
RORY: I set the clock.
LORELAI: Yes, but see the clock stops ringing once I throw it against the wall giving me ample time to fall back to sleep, you however never stop yapping no matter how hard I throw you, thus ensuring the wake up process.
LUKE: Oh yeah, I got some refrigerator magnets shaped like sushi for a nickel, so basically I scored.
Most iconic outfit
I actually quite like Lorelai’s pink jumper paired with the fur-trimmed denim jacket. I have a very similar jacket. It’s actually quite a tame outfit for Lorelai, who can often be seen wearing varying shades of the same colour at once.
Final thoughts and fun facts
Again this is not a very eventful episode and is one of the more boring ones. I’m not big on the episodes spent away from Star Hollow as I love how weird the townies are. The Bangles concert is very cool though.
Lorelai and Sookie being slightly hysterical/acting drunk after getting to their seats at the concert was very strange and out of character for them. It comes out of nowhere and really doesn’t make sense. The comment about them needing a flamethrower in place of a lighter was quite funny though.
The exterior shot of the building where the party Madeline and Louise go to is the same exterior shot used for Monica’s building on Friends.
