Best character

Everyone does great things in this so it’s hard to pick just one character. Ms Wardwell is stunningly conniving, Sabrina turns dark and saves the whole town, Zelda steals Father Blackwood’s daughter and Hilda and Dr Cerberus share a very sweet moment. They all did great things, which sounds weird when talking about stealing a child, but there is no one best character this time.

Favourite scene

*I do not own the rights to any videos in this post, no copyright infringement was intended. All rights go to the production studio*

I love the opening of this episode, it feels like a bedtime story and is weirdly cosy. I especially love Hilda’s ‘bloody hell’ when she sees the bread split down the middle.

Any scene where they actually cast spells is a favourite scene for me. Funnily enough, it isn’t something you see often as they actually seem to use their magic sparingly, but watching them do the big stuff, chills.

I’m finding it hard to choose just a few select scenes from this episode as the whole thing is incredible. It’s probably one of the best of the entire show, non stop action and the suspense is constantly building. It reminds me of the Eldritch terrors from the final season and they were some of the best episodes as well.

I’m also going to include a clip of the closing scene because it’s so good. You really think Sabrina has turned evil because she’s with the Wyrd sisters, and my god Nick’s face when he sees her. Swoon.

Best quotes and one liners

ZELDA: Your Aunt Hilda’s made you a balm. To numb your heart. Rub it in your chest three times daily, or as needed.

SABRINA: I don’t want to stop feeling. I want to stop hurting. No, that’s wrong. I want Harvey to stop hurting.

ZELDA: There’s no balm for that. If there were, we’d be as rich as Midas.

SABRINA: But what about the mortals? The people of Greendale.

FATHER BLACKWOOD: Let them run to their False God and gnash their teeth and wail, or whatever it is they do.

ZELDA: The Greendale Thirteen were sacrificed so that the pack might survive. But we need not make the same mistake again. We are Spellmans. That means we stand tall, with dignity, and we do what is right. As your father always did, Sabrina. The mortals may be weak, but they do not deserve this grim fate. Doom has been unleashed by witches. It must be averted by witches.

MS WARDWELL: I know you’re scared, Sabrina. Because all women are taught to fear power. Own your power.

MS WARDWELL: It isn’t just power, Sabrina. It’s rage. It’s the desire to change the world… and the will to do it.

Final thoughts and fun facts

Nick calls Harvey “farm boy” in this episode and I’m guessing this is in reference to Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, in which a character constantly refers to Harvey as “farm boy”. I love any little references to the original series, it makes me very happy.

When Madam Satan peels off her face like a mask to reveal her true face at the end of the episode, it seems to reference the Grand High Witch from Roald Dahl’s novel, The Witches. More specifically, the 1990 movie with Angelica Huston. There are so many pop culture references in this episode and I love it. Especially as I love The Witches, absolutely terrifying, but it’s a great film.

Nick talking to Sabrina about witches not being capable of true love makes me want to scream with happiness. Obviously, the first time you watch this you have no idea what’s going to happen between them. However, after watching the whole series, you know this isn’t true. Nick and Sabrina are examples of witches feeling true love.
