Once again I’ve been listening to the same songs and playlists and nothing has really stood out to me as a monthly favourite. I did branch out a little by listening to some new artists, so I may talk about one of those instead. I also did a long solo journey (which I don’t like doing) and wanted very familiar and comforting listens to keep me calm so I spent the majority of that listening to 5 Seconds of Summer, more on that in the next section.
Songs I’ve enjoyed in April
Ok so I used to be the absolute biggest 5SOS fan, it was literally what I was known for in secondary school, but then they released Youngblood and let’s just say the shift in sound was not for me. I haven’t really listened to them since. I do, however, need to give their newer stuff a second chance.
Anyway, I genuinely think Over and Out is one of their most underrated songs and it’s probably one of my favourites.
This song is the type that makes me want to cry with happiness. It’s so uplifting and feel-good and just makes me so happy. Their second album was my everything back then and to this day it’s one of my favourite albums of all time. It’s a masterpiece.
Everyone and their dog has listened to Lizzie McAlpine at this point, but I finally caved and gave her a listen earlier this month. I really like her vibe and songwriting. I’ll definitely be listening to her more in the future.
I’m still on my Daisy Jones & The Six hype and it’s not going away anytime soon.
Audiobooks I listened to in April
I spent this month listening to just one audiobook and it took me way too long to get through it. I really am trying to listen to more of them because I do actually enjoy them these days, but it’s hard to find the time.
The one audiobook I listened to this month was The Princess Companion by Melanie Cellier and it was ok. I probably would have enjoyed the book more if it wasn’t an audiobook as I didn’t like the narrator very much. Absolutely no hate to the narrator but I didn’t like her voice, it was really hard to focus on the story.
