The Best Of: Bingeworthy TV Shows #2

It has been quite some time since the first post in this series. I’ll be honest and say I completely forgot about it.

I still don’t have a set structure for it, so please bear with me. I am loving posting about films and shows more often though. Young Creative Press has become quite the variety blog and I’m having so much fun posting about pretty much whatever I want.

New Girl (2011 – 2018)

Synopsis: After a bad break-up, Jess, an offbeat young woman, moves into an apartment loft with three single men. Although they find her behaviour very unusual, the men support her – most of the time.

There’s really nothing more binge-able than a 25-minute sitcom, they are the type of show where you keep saying ‘just one more episode’ and before you know it, you’ve finished the season. I would say this has happened to me recently with New Girl but I’m reviewing it currently so I’m not getting through the episodes very quickly. I have binge-watched most of the seasons a couple of times before though.

New Girl is probably my favourite sitcom of all time and I will never get bored of it. The cast is perfect and I love their characters with all of my heart. Schmidt alone makes this one of the best sitcoms ever. He’s one of the funniest characters to exist and no one could have played him as well as Max Greenfield.

There are so many quotable lines in New Girl and I won’t lie, I probably say at least one of them every day.

I’m just over halfway through season one with my reviews and I’m having so much fun analysing the episodes as usually I just watch them and don’t think too deeply about what’s going on. However, by reviewing it, I’m finding out so much about the storylines and episodes that I wouldn’t have known otherwise.

I also started listening to the podcast last month and it’s so fun listening to the cast reminisce about how they filmed the episodes and what scenes were improvised. It’s a really good listen if you love the show and want to know more about it.

The only season I haven’t seen more than once is the last one so I can’t remember much about it or if it was any good. I’m quite excited to get to it at some point though (at the rate I’m reviewing the episodes it’s going to take a while).

If you haven’t watched New Girl yet and are looking for a fun series with short episodes I really can’t recommend it enough. Top tier comedy with a really great cast.
