Best character

Luke said ‘top of the mornin’ need I say more? Well probably, but I’ve made it very obvious that he’s one of my favourite characters.

Favourite scenes

Rory and Lorelai staring in amazement at their own oven being used and then discovering the broiler is hilarious. I can’t make too much fun of them though because I also don’t know what a broiler is.

I love every single town meeting in this show, they are always pure chaos and Luke saying ‘It’s like Hitler’s Germany’ was too funny.

Best quotes and one liners

RORY: Okay, our house is burning down, and you can save the cake or me. What do you choose?

LORELAI: Well that’s not fair. The cake doesn’t have legs.

FRAN: So how are we coming here?

LORELAI: Oh Fran, so good. This cake is amazing.

RORY: Beyond amazing.

FRAN: Well, I should hope so. We’ve been doing this for 112 years.

LORELAI: Huh. Well, you don’t look a day over a 106.

RORY: Is it right to be sampling wedding cakes when Sookie’s making ours for free?

LORELAI: What is right anyway, you know? Who defines right? And if eating cake is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

FRAN: [calls] I’m bringing out a mocha crunch cream.

LORELAI: So, ethics?

RORY: Highly subjective and completely overrated.

LORELAI: That’s my girl.

LORELAI: Hey [wakes up Rory].

RORY: What? What is it?

LORELAI: Oh nothing. Whatcha doing?

RORY: Taking back Poland.

LORELAI: Oh, good luck with that.

LORELAI: Traffic light, huh?

LUKE: It’s unbelievable.

LORELAI: Well, it can always be taken out with your bare hands or your teeth.

DEAN: [talking about Lorelai and Rory] Their eating habits are just the start of what you’re gonna have to get used to. There’s tons of stuff you should be aware of.

MAX: Really?

DEAN: Oh yeah. Like, don’t ever use the last of the parmesan cheese. And never get into a heavy discussion late at night ’cause that’s when they’re at their crankiest. Oh, and uh, go with their bits.

MAX: Their bits?

DEAN: Yeah, like, if you’re eating pizza with them and Lorelai decides that the pepperoni is angry at the mushrooms because the mushrooms have an attitude and then she holds up a pepperoni and the pepperoni asks for your opinion…don’t just laugh. Answer the pepperoni.

MAX: Answer the pepperoni.

DEAN: And don’t let them near puppies ’cause they’ll want to take home every one. MAX: Oh, that one I knew.

DEAN: Oh, and uh, here’s a big one. If you ever think that they’re doing something crazy, they’re not. You see, after a while, their thinking becomes clear, but by the time it’s clear, they’ve already done two other totally crazy things that you can’t figure out. So there’s no catching up.

MAX: You have much knowledge.

MICHEL: I feel like crap on toast.

Final thoughts and fun facts

Max was far too insecure about his relationship with Lorelai. If you’re reading into things this badly you really aren’t ready for marriage.

Rory and Dean discuss their old anniversary date as the 24th. They got together the day after her birthday in Season 1; in that episode, Rory’s birthday invitation lists her birthday as October 8th, making the old anniversary the 9th.

In this episode, when Luke makes a chuppah for the wedding, Lorelai mentions that she and Max aren’t Jewish. However, the actor who plays Max has a Jewish surname and the name of his character, Max Medina, while not exclusively Jewish seems potentially Jewish, so it’s a bit ironic given the chuppah building that that is not his ancestry (according to IMDB).

When they convince the bouncer at the bar to let Rory in, they say she was a world famous model. In real life, Alexis Bledel was a model when she was still in high school, and ended up traveling to Tokyo, Milan, New York and Los Angeles.
