Synopsis:
Past loves should stay in the past.
After the way my first love took off for the ends of the earth, the last thing I want is to see him on billboards and bookstore bestseller shelves. Now my boss just handed me the project that could make my career. All I have to do is partner up with the man, the myth, the legend – adventurer Hunter Armstrong.
That’s easier said than done, because when we reconnect, I learn Hunter has his own agenda on this project. And it’s not to find a treasure in art and antiques. It’s me. But what we discover shocks both of us, and we have no choice but to follow the clues….
Review:
I won’t lie, I read this because it’s super short and I need some smaller reads to keep me out of a slump.
I’ve read one of Lauren Blakely’s books before and it was decent, so I went into this one feeling somewhat positive. Which was the right thing to do. It’s super short, but it does have a lot of detail and character backstory. I was actually quite surprised by how much was crammed into a couple of hours without it being an info dump.
There’s a lot of backstory and building of relationships, but there hasn’t been a ton of story progression yet. The characters have a lot of personality and I quite like the narration.
I love a second chance romance and although a lot hasn’t happened yet, I’m liking this one so far. It was never going to be a five star read, these Audible originals rarely/never are, but it seems decent so far.
I had a feeling this wasn’t going to be a long review because this book is split into three. I was going to review/add them to my reading challenge as one book, but that doesn’t exist, so three small reviews it is.
