Review:
I donโt have a great track record with Audible Originals, but I actually enjoyed this one. The cover definitely put me off and I pretty much never read romances by male authors. However, as this was a dramatised audio novella, it was an entertaining read.
The Wedding Proposal felt especially like a Hallmark movie. Our female main character gets dumped by her fiancรฉ two weeks before her wedding. She isnโt able to get her money back, which is ridiculous if you ask me, why did she pay for it all? So instead of moping around she decides to gift her wedding to a complete stranger. Which is a very nice thing to do, but also a little weird.
Enter our male main character, Eric, donโt worry heโs not the one getting married his sister is. Unfortunately his sister is allergic to gluten so they need to change the cake and other such issues also arise. This is where the classic bonding montage you get between the two main characters in these Hallmark films happens. Itโs actually all very sweet and the chemistry between the narrators is great.
I wasnโt a fan of the side characters, mostly the wedding vendors. But I donโt think youโre supposed to like them. Ericโs family are lovely though. There are a lot of emotional moments surrounding family in The Wedding Proposal but these add a surprising amount of depth to what is a two hour long story.
There isnโt a ton of character development as The Wedding proposal takes place over just two weeksโyou only spend a few of these days with the characters. However, I would actually recommend this Audible Original. If youโve read my reviews of the others in this catalogue, you will be surprised Iโm saying those words. Trust me, Iโm also surprised.
