Books I’m Removing From My Physical Shelves #15

Advertisements

I haven’t actually got rid of any physical books in quite a while now. I’m only really allowing myself to buy physical books if they’re by an author I love and want as part of my collection. Basically what I’m saying is, these posts are currently finite as about 90% of my physical books are ones I’ve read and love so I want to keep them.

Caraval (series) by Stephanie Garber

I love this series which may lead you to ask why I’m getting rid of it. Well, I only had the first two books and when I saw the entire series for 99p on my Kindle I had to get it. I’d put off buying the final book for the longest time, I don’t know why, but after getting the ebook I decided it was time to get rid of the physical ones.

Synopsis: Scarlett Dragna has never left the tiny island where she and her sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval—the faraway, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show—are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt-of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. Nevertheless she becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic. And whether Caraval is real or not, Scarlett must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over or a dangerous domino effect of consequences will be set off, and her beloved sister will disappear forever.

Throne of Glass (series) by Sarah J. Maas

I’ve talked multiple times now about why I’m getting rid of all of my Sarah J. Maas books and if you don’t know the controversy by now, where have you been? It’s nothing major, but it doesn’t sit right with me.

Also, the books in this series kept getting bigger and I struggled to get through whichever one it was I read last. I just didn’t care about the characters.

Synopsis: In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass—and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.
