The Witch’s Kiss by Katharine Corr & Elizabeth Corr
I read this back in 2017 and I remember enjoying it, but again it isn’t something I’d ever want to re-read so it’s an easy remove. I didn’t realise until years later that it’s an entire series. I’ve read the first two books but never came across the third so didn’t bother finishing this series.
It’s a little weird to talk about books on this blog that I read way before I even knew about book blogging. I often look back at my reviews when talking about specific books in other posts, but I can’t do that with this one. I remember a few details about it, but I couldn’t tell you actually how good I found it. I didn’t view books analytically back then.
I also didn’t realise until I sat down to write this post that this book was written by Katharine and Elizabeth Corr. Clearly I didn’t pay attention to who was writing the books I was reading when I was a teen. Anyway, I’ve read another of their books since and I really liked it. It’s on my Kindle though so not taking up physical space – something you think about a lot more when you’re an adult.
Synopsis: Sixteeen-year-old Meredith is fed-up with her feuding family and feeling invisible at school – not to mention the witch magic that shoots out of her fingernails when she’s stressed. Then sweet, sensitive Jack comes into her life and she falls for him hard. The only problem is that he is periodically possessed by a destructive centuries-old curse. Meredith has lost her heart, but will she also lose her life? Or in true fairytale tradition, can true love’s kiss save the day?
Scythe by Neal Shusterman
This series sar on my shelves for about four years and as I never once thought about reading it, it was a very quick remove when I was packing to move house. I ordered the entire series when I first moved to Brighton and didn’t have any books, I’d heard really great things about it, but never actually picked it up.
If I ever did think about reading this, I’d buy it on my Kindle rather than have it taking up space on my shelves. I don’t think it’s something I’m actually interested in. I’m very much over dystopian novels, nothing ever lived up to The Hunger Games unfortunately.
I think there’s an adaptation of this in the works (don’t quote me on that) so I may check that out at some point. There have been some really great book adaptations recently.
Synopsis: Thou shalt kill.
