Books I’m Removing From My Physical Shelves #6

Advertisements

I’m planning to do another huge book clearout soon, so expect more of these posts in the future. I don’t know how long this series will continue as I haven’t been buying physical books very often lately, but I still have a decent amount of books to talk about.

After by Anna Todd

I read the fanfic of this as a teenager and wanted to see what was different in the published version. I’m assuming a lot, I never actually got around to reading it. The book sat on my shelf for years and I never once thought of picking it, therefore I’ve removed it from my shelf.

Synopsis: Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.

But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.

But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.

He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.

Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?

Unless…could this be love?

The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski

I read this back in 2024 and wasn’t entirely sure if I liked it or not. Obviously, I read the English version so some elements may not have translated well, but there was something off for me.

I did think about continuing this series at some point but I don’t think I want to. So it was an easy choice to remove this from my shelves.

Synopsis: Geralt the Witcher—revered and hated—is a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent.

But not everything monstrous-looking is evil and not everything fair is good… and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.
