Submerged – Kastaclysm
Game synopsis: “Submerged is a third-person combat-free game in which you explore a mysterious flooded city and discover the beauty of desolation in vast outdoor environments. You take on the role of Miku, a young girl who has brought her wounded brother to the city in their small fishing boat.
Navigate the flooded city streets by boat, scale the drowned buildings, and use your telescope to scour the city for the supplies needed to save your dying sibling. As you explore the city at your own pace, you encounter the habitat that flourishes in this colourful place and discover hidden objects that piece together the story of a broken world and a broken family.”
If you haven’t checked out Kastaclysm yet, you absolutely have to. She’s one of my favourite gaming Youtubers, mostly because she’s super chill and plays a lot of games I love. You can also tell just how much she loves games and the passion she has for making content.
Today’s game is completely new to me though. I thought the thumbnail for this playthrough looked really cute and the game did deliver. The art style is wonderful, I love games with cartoony styles, and the story was interesting. I liked that it didn’t rely on dialogue to tell the story and how you had to use various pictures to interpret what was going on. Throughout Kasta contemplates on what could be going on and what she thinks will happen and I really love how much she thinks on what she’s playing. She always tries to figure out where the story will go and it’s great to see how invested she is.
I’d recommend checking out this playthrough if you want something super chill to have on as background noise. A lot of it does involve just walking around so you can definitely dip in and out while doing other things. I personally love to watch these types of games while I’m working as I’m the type of person that doesn’t work well in silence–I always need some type of sound whether that be music or having the TV on in the background. Kasta has a ton of games like this one that you can do the exact same thing with. I’d also recommend checking out her livestream archive channel as she plays different games there.
