Best character
Iโm very obsessed with Nick in this episode. Firstly, when he appears in Sabrinaโs room and is so charming and sweet, ugh. Then when he and Sabrina are matched during the Lupercalia dance, my god. I hate that he lied about Amalia though. Best supporting character Once again Theo has been so strong and brave during this episode. I love that heโs finally comfortable being himself.
Favourite scenes

The dance scene is so beautiful, probably one of the best shot scenes in the entire show. The choreography is stunning, the camera work is top notch and the moment when Nick and Sabrina turn and look at Dorcas *chefโs kiss*.
I absolutely love the scene where Sabrina walks down the stairs for the dance and Nick and Ambrose are both blown away by how she looks. Iโm a fan because of Nick and Sabrina, but mostly because of the facial expressions Ambrose makes. I really wish I could find a video of it because an explanation would not do it justice.
Best quotes and one liners
SABRINA: Aunties, what exactly is Lupercalia?
ZELDA: Oh! It’s a lusty, pastoral festival started by the Roman witches under the reign of Caligula. Named after the Lupercal, the cave where the twin founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, were suckled by the She-Wolf. It was instituted as a means to purify the city and increase health and fertility.
HILDA: Nowadays, it’s less about fertility, and it’s more about… blah-blah-blah.
ZELDA: sะตx, Hilda. S-E-X. sะตx.
HILDA: I know. I know. I can spell it.
ZELDA: The festival is comprised of three events. The Matching, during which you are paired with a random warlock. The Courting, where you and said warlock spend the night together in unholy abstinence. And the Hunt, a run through the woods which climaxes in a frenzy of orgiastic carnality.
SABRINA: Aunt Zelda, but if I’m not yet actively having S-E-X…
ZELDA: What better time to start?
HILDA: Zelda! How dare you pressure her like that.
ZELDA: I’m doing nothing of the kind, Hilda. Sabrina, Lupercalia is a symphony of sensuality and pleasure, not shame and regret, as the False God and your Aunt Hilda would have you believe.
NICK: You’re pretty special, Spellman. I don’t wanna mess things up with you.
SABRINA: Welcome to Baxter High. Not quite as magical as the Academy.
NICK: Are you kidding? Being here with you, getting to see this other side of you, it’s… it’s more magical than anything at the Academy.
SABRINA: You couldn’t kill the only family you had. You loved her. That’s not a weakness. That’s a virtue.
Best musical moment
Thereโs something very funny about Hungry Like The Wolf being played while everyone is slow dancing. It really doesnโt fit, but itโs a great song.
Final thoughts and fun facts
The whole idea of Lupercalia is absolutely wild. Also very heteronormative, which is surprising considering witches seem to be very free with who they love/lust.
If Nick Scratch appeared in my room to talk to me about Lupercalia, I would say yes at the drop of a hat. Donโt tell my boyfriend, Iโm kidding (Iโm not).
During the dance, the music playing in the background matches the wolf motif of the episode, with “Hungry like the Wolf” by Duran Duran and “Maneater” by Hall & Oats playing while the main characters dance. I love little touches like this, it shows they put real care and attention into the show.
Also during the dance, an extra looks directly into the camera and instantly looks away. It made me laugh.
Personally, I think the Roz and Harvey storyline was a little forced as it basically came out of nowhere. Iโm pretty sure they started dating in real life and thatโs where it came from, but I could be wrong. Iโm not against them being together, but it would have been better if theyโd built it up.
