It seems like my list of covers I love grows every day and honestly, I’m not complaining. I really enjoy sharing the covers I like and who knows, you may find your next read in one of these posts!
Guard Your Heart by Sue Divin
I really like the minimalist look of Guard Your Heart. It’s so simple, but also quite eye-catching. I’m not a fan of the whole ‘blue is for boys and pink for girls’ stereotype, but it does work for this cover. The shades complement each other well. I also really like the font, it’s got a handwriting vibe to it.
Synopsis: Derry. Summer 2016. Aidan and Iona, now eighteen, were both born on the day of the Northern Ireland peace deal.
Aidan is Catholic, Irish, and Republican. With his ex-political prisoner father gone and his mother dead, Aidan’s hope is pinned on exam results earning him a one-way ticket out of Derry. To anywhere.
Iona, Protestant and British, has a brother and father in the police. She’s got university ambitions, a strong faith and a fervent belief that boys without one track minds are a myth.
At a post-exam party, Aidan wanders alone across the Peace Bridge and becomes the victim of a brutal sectarian attack. Iona witnessed the attack; picked up Aidan’s phone and filmed what happened, and gets in touch with him to return the phone. When the two meet, alone and on neutral territory, the differences between them seem insurmountable.
Both their fathers held guns, but safer to keep that secret for now.
Despite their differences and the secrets they have to keep from each other, there is mutual intrigue, and their friendship grows. And so what? It’s not the Troubles. But for both Iona and Aidan it seems like everything is keeping them apart , when all they want is to be together . . .
These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan
This cover has a Charlie Bowater vibe to it, I’m pretty sure it isn’t her art, but I love it. Everything about this cover sings to me; the character designs, colour scheme, and even the lettering is nice.
Covers are 100% what draws me into a book and when I saw this one I knew I needed to read it.
Synopsis: Brie hates the Fae and refuses to have anything to do with them, even if that means starving on the street. But when her sister is sold to the sadistic king of the Unseelie court to pay a debt, she’ll do whatever it takes to get her back—including making a deal with the king himself to steal three magical relics from the Seelie court.
Gaining unfettered access to the Seelie court is easier said than done. Brie’s only choice is to pose as a potential bride for Prince Ronan, and she soon finds herself falling for him. Unwilling to let her heart distract her, she accepts help from a band of Unseelie misfits with their own secret agenda. As Brie spends time with their mysterious leader, Finn, she struggles to resist his seductive charm.
Caught between two dangerous courts, Brie must decide who to trust with her loyalty. And with her heart.
