The Best Of: Bingeworthy Book Series #2

Advertisements

I’m slowly starting to run out of book series to talk about in these posts, but I will be doing a huge Goodreads sort-out soon. I have started organising books into specific shelves, but I need to get them up to date.

If you have any great series suggestions (of any genre) please send them over. I’m struggling to find good ones at the moment.

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

Most of you will not be surprised to see this series in this post and will also agree with its inclusion. Often most reader’s choice as Cassandra Clare’s best series, The Infernal Devices is definitely up there for me. It isn’t my favourite series, that goes to The Dark Artifices. However, that may be because I haven’t read this series in so long. I did re-read Clockwork Angel last year and I do still adore it, but I need to read the rest of the series again at some point.

Synopsis: In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them…

The Potion Diaries by Amy Alward (McCullough)

I read this series as a teenager and I adored it. I’m pretty sure I’ve talked about it before and have mentioned how much I love the descriptions of the potion ingredients. They tell you their properties and what they’re used for, which is so fun.

This is such a unique story and I love a good bit of alchemy. I may re-read this series in the future. Even though I don’t have a picture of the first book, I still own the entire series.

Synopsis: When the Princess of Nova accidentally poisons herself with a love potion meant for her crush, she falls crown-over-heels in love with her own reflection. Oops. A nationwide hunt is called to find the cure, with competitors travelling the world for the rarest ingredients, deep in magical forests and frozen tundras, facing death at every turn. Enter Samantha Kemi – an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent. Sam’s family were once the most respected alchemists in the kingdom, but they’ve fallen on hard times, and winning the hunt would save their reputation. But can Sam really compete with the dazzling powers of the Zoro Aster megapharma company? Just how close is Sam willing to get to Zain Aster, her dashing former classmate and enemy, in the meantime? And just to add to the pressure, this quest is ALL OVER social media. And the world news. No big deal, then.
