The Best Of: Comfort Films and TV Shows #11

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

I can’t really explain why this film is on this list. For some reason, there’s just something about it that is so comforting to me. This is one of the most recent additions to my comfort film collection and if you look at the rest of this list the most recent before this was from 2008 which is just wild really.

Saying To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before revived my love for romcoms is a pretty strong statement, but also a true one. I can still remember the first time I watched it and the ending left the most stupid smile on my face. I love love so much and these films are just too sweet.

It’s rare for me so to say this, but I 100% prefer the film to the book. The film feels much more mature and had the cosy vibes that were desperately missing from the book. I probably shouldn’t have read the book after watching the film because I love it so much. Oh well.

I could watch this film a million times and never get bored. Peter Kavinsky has me in a chokehold and my god do I love Noah Centineo in this film. Which is weird because outside of this series I don’t find him that attractive, but Peter Kavinsky, you have my heart. I’m still not over his cameo in XO, Kitty. I love that he and Lara Jean are still together. It makes me so happy.

I’m technically only talking about the first film for this post as I’ve only watched the others once since they came out. I really need to watch them again soon. The whole ‘love triangle’ part of the second film really isn’t my favourite but I do love Jordan Fisher so I’ll let them get away with it.

I did an in depth review of this film a while ago, you should check it out: Re-Watch Review: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. The post says I’ll ‘definitely’ review the other films at some point, but this was before I decided to stop doing film and TV show reviews, so I’m lying.

Synopsis: Lara Jean Covey is a teenage girl who writes love letters when she gets a crush too big to handle but she never actually sends them. One day her deepest secrets are revealed and she creates and elaborate plan to save herself from being too embarrassed but it all goes pear shaped when it turns into more than fake.
