The Best Of: Sweet & Swoonworthy Romances #2

Advertisements

For some reason I thought I’d published the second post in this series already, but apparently not. It’s been a couple of months since the first post and since then I’ve read even more books with great romance.

Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood

This was my first Ali Hazelwood book and it had me gripped from the get go. Bee and Levi were everything to me for like a good three days. I stayed up til 3am to finish this book because I didn’t want to put it down.

Bee and Levi are a classic case of grumpy x sunshine and it’s so good. I know it’s a cheesy trope, but it hits every time. I had some issues with Bee but I got over them pretty quickly. Also, the first ‘intimate’ scene was at the 69% point and that’s pretty funny.

Synopsis: Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project – a literal dream come true – Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school – archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.

But when her equipment starts to go missing and the staff ignore her, Bee could swear she sees Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas… devouring her with those eyes. The possibilities have all her neurons firing.

But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there’s only one question that matters: What will Bee Königswasser do?

Air Awakens by Elise Kova

This is one of my favourite romantasy series. I did read them quite a while ago–reread? It’s a slight spoiler to talk about the romance element, but this series has been out for a long time now. If you don’t know about Vhalla and Aldrik, you’re missing out. I chain read this series because I couldn’t get enough of them. They aren’t my favourite Air Awakens universe couple, but I’ll be talking about them in a future post.

Synopsis: A library apprentice, a sorcerer prince, and an unbreakable magic bond…

The Solaris Empire is one conquest away from uniting the continent, and the rare elemental magic sleeping in seventeen-year-old library apprentice Vhalla Yarl could shift the tides of war.

Vhalla has always been taught to fear the Tower of Sorcerers, a mysterious magic society, and has been happy in her quiet world of books. But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all—the Crown Prince Aldrik—she finds herself enticed into his world.

Now she must decide her future: Embrace her sorcery and leave the life she’s known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she’s always been. And with powerful forces lurking in the shadows, Vhalla’s indecision could cost her more than she ever imagined.
