I’ve spent a far bit of time watching TV during March. My dog had surgery on his foot so I wasn’t getting out much, which equals to more time spent watching TV. I’ve also been feeling a bit stuck with reading at the moment.
Gilmore Girls
After abandoning my rewatch for over a year, I finally started season three. On my first watch I was so happy that Jess and Rory finally got together but watching it again I realised that they were pretty awkward to begin with. Plus, Jess is actually too good for Rory. I really don’t like her the second time round. Hindsight is very enlightening.
I’m only halfway through the season as I basically just binged it for a few days and forgot about it again. However, it’s one of those shows I’ll always come back to.
Synopsis: The mother-daughter duo of Lorelai and Rory bond over everything they do and are essentially inseparable. Their lives depend on each other for the most part and to some extent on their close friends.
My Fault: London
I love a trashy Prime or Netflix original and honestly, this one was pretty good. I thought the whole step siblings that fall in love plot would creep me out but they’re both adults and didn’t grow up together. They have no familial bond so it’s fine.
This got way more intense than I thought it would. I really wasn’t expecting high speed car chases and gun fights. It was highly entertaining though.
Synopsis: An 18-year-old girl named Noah moves from America to London with her mother and wealthy stepfather. She meets her stepbrother, and an attraction brews despite their efforts. Unaware, her estranged father tracks her down after release from prison.
Picture This
I can’t lie, I only wanted to watch this because of the cast and it was pretty fun. I don’t know if I’ll ever watch it again. There wasn’t enough of the romance between the main characters for my liking. I know he’s not the greatest actor but I would have liked this more if Hero had like 10 times the amount of screen time. It’s hard to believe a romance when you don’t get a ton of interactions between the characters.
Synopsis: Struggling photographer Pia is told she’ll find true love and career success within the next five dates she goes on. With her sister’s wedding looming and her family playing matchmaker, her ex soon reappears, throwing her life into chaos.
Sweetpea
I finished the first, and currently only season, of this and I’m not really sure what I thought of it. I love Ella Purnell so my opinion is already a little biased, but everything that happens is so unbelievable. Wiping a knife with your sleeve does not get rid of your DNA, you’re using your sleeve. You know, the one that definitely has your DNA on it.
Anyway, the acting in this was phenomenal and the story was really entertaining. I can’t believe how much she actually gets away with. I hope there is a season two as I need to know what happens after the final scene.
Synopsis: Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her in the street without a second glance. That is until she is pushed over the edge and loses control, and Rhiannon’s life transforms.
The Sex Lives of College Girls
I’ve finally got around to watching season three and even though the vibe was different, I loved it. I didn’t think I’d like all of the new characters but I actually did in the end. The last episode had me crying like a baby. Kacey was annoying to begin with, but she did deserve better.
I’m now praying that another service picks up this show for at least a final season. We just need to see the girl’s graduate, I’ll be happy then. Please don’t add The Sex Lives of College Girls to the pile of great shows that got wrongly canceled.
Synopsis: It follows four college roommates as they arrive at New England’s prestigious Essex College. A bundle of contradictions and hormones, the girls are equal parts lovable and infuriating as they navigate their new, free lives on campus.
Cruel Intentions
I’ve never seen the original film so I have nothing to compare this to, but I thought it was decent. Annoyingly, I was halfway through episode two when I found out it had already been canceled. Which is just typical really. I may have to watch the film so I know what happens.
Synopsis: At Manchester College, step-siblings Caroline and Lucien work to stay on top of the social ladder. After a hazing scandal, they plot to seduce Annie Grover, the daughter of the Vice President of the United States, to maintain power.
