My Favourite Albums: Eternal Blue by Spiritbox

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these. Quite literally years. I reposted the first one last year as I had plans to get the series started, but that did not happen. Until now! I suddenly realised a few weeks ago that I could draw a base graphic for this series and not have to worry about copyright for the album art. So hopefully, I should be updating this series once a month.

Eternal Blue by Spiritbox

Discovering this album back in 2021, thanks to my boyfriend, was one of the best things ever. Which is ridiculously hyperbolic, but I stand by it. This is seriously an incredible album and I’d almost go as far to say it’s perfect.

The weirdest thing about this album for me is, I started listening to it in December and specifically on my way to work, so if I ever listen to it on a bus it reminds me of Christmas. Which is both weird and also hilarious. This feeling has started to pass now because I listen to it so often, but I thought that was worth a mention.

My biggest and pretty much only issue with this album is the song Yellowjacket ft. Sam Carter. Personally, I don’t think it fits with the other songs and it’s definitely my least favourite – more often than not, I will skip it.

It’s very difficult for me to choose a favourite song from this album. It usually changes depending on my mood, but right now my favourite is Halcyon. It’s a bit more of a downbeat slower, less angry I suppose you could say, track and I really feel like the vocals shine.

The same can be said for The Summit. It’s also a really good showing of the vocals and it has a pretty good range. This one is my favourite to sing.

Sadly, none of Spiritbox’s releases since Eternal Blue have compared and I don’t know if any ever will. This will go down as one of my favourite albums of all time.
