Best character

Sandra is back, so she’s obviously the best character of the episode. I love how she gives herself a pep talk in the mirror before the customers come in.

Best quotes and one liners

TATE: Have you had anything to drink today?

GLENN: Uh, just three mugs of juice.

TATE: I think you’ll be fine.

GLENN: Okay. No, I lied. It was seven mugs. I just didn’t want you to judge me.

TATE: That’s too much juice, Glenn.

JONAH: Pretend I’m not here.

AMY: Why pretend when you could really just not be here?

GLENN: Okay, well, we’re, uh, only five minutes in, and already, uh, the beer tower display got knocked over onto Miles, so he’s gone, and aisle 12 is covered with blood and glass. But, uh, it’s all it’s all good, boo. I’m keeping it 100.

AMY: That’s not what that means.

GLENN: No?

MATEO: Oh. I feel like my insides are crawling through my skin. Can I have a sip of that?

CHEYENNE: Sure. 20 bucks.

MATEO: For a sip of Pepto? I’ll just go buy my own.

CHEYENNE: You know, I think someone already bought them all.

MATEO: Hmm. Well, well, well. Who’s all grown up?

CHEYENNE: It’s called war profiteering. I learned about it in Social Studies.

AMY: I have a terrible headache, Mateo. Can you please barf quieter?

MATEO: Ugh, could you be a bitch quieter?

GARRETT: Wait, we’re just gonna leave?

CHEYENNE: It was your idea to bail.

GARRETT: Yeah, I suggest that every Friday. Even you, Dina? You said you’d never give up.

DINA: I also said I’d never vomit on a toddler’s head. Lot of firsts today.

CHEYENNE: Attention, shoppers, the store is now closed. Not, like, “Bring your items to the front” closed. I mean, like, “Get the hell out.” Thank you. Oh, also, if anyone happens to find a little green hair thing, it’s mine.

Final thoughts and fun facts

Garrett reveals that his last name is McNeill, which made me realise that we don’t know the last names of most of the characters.

Garrett and Dina hook up for the first time, kicking off a subplot that will run throughout the rest of the series.

Amy’s nametag says “Brittany”.

At the end of every episode, the card for the production company Spitzer Holding Company features a variety of items they specialise in. In this episode, they list Obstetrics, Elder Care, and Payday Lenders.

Amy is wearing maroon trousers with dark blue sneakers, while Jonah is wearing dark blue trousers with maroon sneakers, symbolizing their connection. I don’t know if this is true, but it’s a nice idea.

When Amy and Jonah are in the bathroom after she finds out that she wasn’t pregnant she tells him that she thought she’d have two or three kids, she just wasn’t sure she wanted them with Adam. This foreshadows her getting pregnant again by Adam with their son Parker and then in the final episode with a shown having a son with Jonah.

Amy is seen at the opening holding a takeout coffee cup. Her name is visibly written on the cup, meaning she gave the barista her actual name. Amy quite famously hates strangers calling her by her name, so much so that she wears fake name tags at work to prevent customers from learning her name.

Sal is mentioned to be looking for a roommate, implying that he still works at the store, though he hasn’t been seen since season one. His corpse will be found stuck in the wall of the store in season three’s Halloween episode.
