Review:
Going into this I had no idea what it would be like. I decided to listen on a whim as it is only just over an hour long and honestly it was decent. Itโs pretty obvious by now that I love a full-cast audiobook and I really enjoyed the dual narrative of The Five-Year Hitch. The actors had amazing chemistry.
The chemistry was great, but the script was annoying at times. Honestly, the amount of times โwe were just friendsโ or โI just assumedโ was used was super irritating.
It took me out of it a little when they acknowledged this was a book on Audible. I was then very confused as to whether this was real or not. I feel like the reporter part wasnโt really mentioned, well that or I wasnโt paying full attention, so I had no idea what was going on.
This was super wholesome and fun right until the end. This is a spoiler so donโt read the next paragraph if youโre thinking of listening to this. Out of nowhere, Miles has cancer and honestly, it doesnโt even add anything to the story. They mention it, heโs cured for now but they donโt know if itโs gone forever and then the story ends. Not a fan of that if Iโm being honest.
Another moment I also really didnโt like was when they mentioned โhooking upโ for the first time and Sam was drunk and Miles was completely sober. That made me really uncomfortable, not cool. Both of these moments did take my rating down to three stars, which is still good considering The Five-Year Hitch is only an hour long.
