Book Confessions: Series I’m Never Going To Finish

I always used to say I’m stubborn when it comes to finishing books/series but apparently, that’s not true. I’m constantly dropping series and these days I even stop reading a book if I don’t like it.

So, I thought it would be fun to talk about which series I’m never going to finish.

Beautiful Dead by Yvonne Woon

The biggest reason why I didn’t finish this series is purely because of the fact that I didn’t know it was a series.

I read this book when I was like 10 so I didn’t even comprehend the fact that it had a cliffhanger ending. Now it’s been over 10 years and I can’t even remember what really happened. Something to do with Latin and dead people who aren’t really dead.

A few years ago I brought the other two books in the series but I’m yet to read them. I think because I need to re-read the first book I just haven’t thought about finishing the series. I will get around to it at some point…maybe.

Goodreads synopsis: After Renee Winters discovers her parents lying dead in California’s Redwood Forest in what appears to be a strange double murder, her grandfather sends her off to Gottfried Academy in Maine, a remote and mysterious high school dedicated to philosophy, “crude sciences,” and Latin: the Language of the Dead. It’s here she meets Dante, a dark and elusive student to whom she feels inexplicably drawn.

As they get to know each other better, Dante can’t seem to control his attraction either, and their desires gradually deepen into a complex and dangerous romance. Dangerous because Dante is hiding a frightening secret. A secret so terrible, it has him fearing for Renee’s life.

Dante’s not the only one with secrets, though.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

This is probably the most shocking on this list. Yes, I have never read the entire Vampire Academy series. This being for the same reason that I never finished the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, I didn’t earn my own money back then so I didn’t have the means to buy the rest of the books.

I do remember enjoying the first book, I gave it a four-star rating on Goodreads, but it took me a very long time to get through it and that really ruins the experience for me.

I don’t think this is a series I will ever pick up again as I would need to re-read the first book and I’m not sure I’m interested enough in the series to want to do that. Do let me know your thoughts on this!

Goodreads synopsis: Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth’s magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires – the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa’s best friend, makes her a dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.

After two years of freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir’s Academy, a school for vampire royalty and their guardians-to-be, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. But inside the iron gates, life is even more fraught with danger… and the Strigoi are always close by.

Rose and Lissa must navigate their dangerous world, confront the temptations of forbidden love, and never once let their guard down, lest the evil undead make Lissa one of them forever…
