Books I’m Removing From My Physical Shelves #3

Advertisements

This list will start to dwindle very quickly soon as I’ve stopped buying as many physical books recently. I’m starting to realise that I really don’t have enough room for so many actual books and I have too many that I want to keep forever already.

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

I actually really enjoyed this book but I couldn’t see myself wanting to re-read it. Therefore, it is gone. Well actually, it’s currently being stored with the other books I couldn’t sell under my bed, but I fully intend to take it to a charity shop.

Synopsis: Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.

That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.

Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.

Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer

I got this book as part of the Zoella book club in 2017. My family got me the set when I moved to Brighton for uni as I didn’t have many books. Well, I didn’t actually end up reading most of them, including this one.

Synopsis: Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother’s death, she leaves letters at her grave. It’s the only way Juliet can cope.

Declan Murphy isn’t the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he’s trying to escape the demons of his past.

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can’t resist writing back. Soon, he’s opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they’re not actually strangers. When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart.
