Books I’m Removing From My Physical Shelves #4

It’s actually been very fun to look back at all of the books on my shelves that I forgot existed. I have a tallish slim shelf which I had books double stacked on, so I did quite literally forget that some of these books existed.

After the Fire by Will Hill

I know absolutely nothing about this book. I’ve mentioned the Zoella book club numerous times now and this was part of it. I’ve had it since 2017 and have never picked it up. Getting rid of it was a no-brainer.

Synopsis: The things I’ve seen are burned into me, like scars that refuse to fade.

Before, she lived inside the fence. Before, she was never allowed to leave the property, never allowed to talk to Outsiders, never allowed to speak her mind. Because Father John controlled everything—and Father John liked rules. Disobeying Father John came with terrible consequences.

But there are lies behind Father John’s words. Outside, there are different truths.

Then came the fire.

Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

I did really enjoy this book but I have no desire to ever re-read it. Also, for some reason, it’s one of those weird paperbacks that is taller than normal ones and it really annoyed me.

I would recommend you check out this book as it has an interesting plot and really cool pictures. I love it when books have imagery and these are comic style so they get extra points.

Book Review: Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

Synopsis: Her story is a phenomenon. Her life is a disaster.

In the real world, Eliza Mirk is shy, weird, and friendless. Online, she’s LadyConstellation, the anonymous creator of the wildly popular webcomic Monstrous Sea. Eliza can’t imagine enjoying the real world as much as she loves the online one, and she has no desire to try.

Then Wallace Warland, Monstrous Sea’s biggest fanfiction writer, transfers to her school. Wallace thinks Eliza is just another fan, and as he draws her out of her shell, she begins to wonder if a life offline might be worthwhile.

But when Eliza’s secret is accidentally shared with the world, everything she’s built—her story, her relationship with Wallace, and even her sanity—begins to fall apart.
