Jedi Fallen Order
Game synopsis: “Sometime after Order 66 has been executed, Jedi survivor Cal Kestis struggles to stay ahead of the Empire’s Inquisitors: tasked with killing Force-sensitives throughout the Galaxy and doing The Emperor’s bidding no matter the cost. The Galaxy hangs in the balance.
I won’t lie, my reasons for wanting an adaption of this game are completely selfish. I massively fancy Cameron Monaghan aka Cal Kestis and I will always want more of him in my life. In my opinion, he’s one of the best actors of this generation and he needs to be in more stuff. I’m genuinely considering watching the US version of Shameless purely because he’s in it.”
I think a lot of people would say that this is one of the best Star Wars games of all time. I can’t comment on that too much as it’s the only one I’ve played, but it is a really good game. You could argue that the cutscenes, with the life-like graphics, are already like a film or show, but one thing I like about adaptations is getting new perspectives or adding new details to a story.
There aren’t any new Star Wars shows coming up soon so it would be cool to see this adapted. The story is already there and it’s one that’s really loved by fans so it’s a no-brainer really. Although there would be a lot of pressure to adapt it perfectly. Recent shows have given me faith that they can make a Star Wars show great (I’m mostly talking about Andor).
The settings in this game aren’t as full of life as you’d expect but they would be a great starting point for an adaptation. Can you use game graphics, textures and objects as a base for CGI/VFX? I’m assuming similar programmes are used to create them for both games and shows but I could be wrong, I know next to nothing about creating either.
By not ‘full of life’ I mean that there’s not much going on as most of this game is spent with Cal in isolation. There aren’t a ton of NPCs and obviously they couldn’t add too many creatures otherwise you’d be fighting things non-stop. However, I do love the side characters. Plus who doesn’t want more BD1 in their life? He’s my favourite droid.
I’d also be interested in a graphic novel series based on this game. I know there’s a book that includes a new adventure with these characters, which my boyfriend read and said was ok, but not great. However, I’m much more interested in more visual media. There are so many interesting settings and character designs that I don’t think written books can do them justice. Plus I’m not interested in Star Wars novels.
