My Favourite Albums: Eternal Blue by Spiritbox

Eternal Blue by Spiritbox

Discovering this album back in 2021, thanks to my boyfriend, was one of the best things ever. Which is ridiculously hyperbolic, but I stand by it. This is seriously an incredible album and I’d almost go as far to say it’s perfect.

The weirdest thing about this album for me is, I started listening to it in December and specifically on my way to work, so if I ever listen to it on a bus it reminds me of Christmas. Which is both weird and also hilarious. This feeling has started to pass now because I listen to it so often, but I thought that was worth a mention.

My biggest and pretty much only issue with this album is the song Yellowjacket ft. Sam Carter. Personally, I don’t think it fits with the other songs and it’s definitely my least favourite – more often than not, I will skip it. I do like Architects (of which Sam Carter is the frontman) but this song just isn’t it for me.

It’s very difficult for me to choose a favourite song from this album. It usually changes depending on my mood, but right now my favourite is Halcyon. It’s a bit more of a downbeat slower, less angry I suppose you could say, track and I really feel like the vocals shine.

The same can be said for The Summit. It’s also a really good showing of the vocals and it has a pretty good range. This one is my favourite to sing, especially in the car.

Ranking every song on Eternal Blue

  1. Halcyon
  2. The Summit
  3. Circle With Me
  4. Secret Garden
  5. Eternal Blue
  6. Sun Killer
  7. Holy Roller
  8. We Live In A Strange World
  9. Hurt You
  10. Constance
  11. Silk In The Strings
  12. Yellowjacket – feat. Sam Carter

Five years later and Eternal Blue is still 100% my favourite album from Spiritbox but Tsunami Sea is a really great album too. Maybe it will feature in one of these posts in the future, but I have a pretty big backlog of albums to get through.
