Today’s gaming post is a quick one. I still have plenty of gaming series to talk about, but I’ve had to write this one in a bit of a rush – poor planning from me unfortunately, work, book reviews and flyball have taken up a lot of my time recently so I haven’t had opportunity to really work on my other types of posts.
As always I’m still on the lookout for new YouTubers to watch so if you have any suggestions please let me know, I mostly enjoy horror games!
Dark Souls Remastered – Gab Smolders

Game synopsis: “Prepare for a new, despair-inducing world, with a vast, fully-explorable horizon and vertically-oriented landforms. Prepare for a new, mysterious story, centered around the the world of Lodran, but most of all, prepare to die. You will face countless murderous traps, countless darkly grotesque mobs and several gargantuan, supremely powerful demons and dragons bosses. Watching this series was my proper introduction to the Dark Souls franchise. I’d seen a few videos of it here and there but none of them were serious play throughs. I’ve played Bloodborne but have never been interested in Fromsoft’s other games. The art direction of Bloodborne is what I love most about it, and while Dark Souls is also impressive, it’s not so much my thing. Actually, I’m lying slightly as I have also played Elden Ring but I never finished it because I’m not a big fan of open world games.
Anyway, if I’m ever looking for serious play through, I’ll choose Gab Smolders, she offers great gameplay whilst still being fun and entertaining. This play through, in particular, is great because Gab has played the game before so she isn’t constantly stuck or wandering around, but she doesn’t remember everything so she still gets surprised at certain things. Watching someone plays a Souls game for the first time can be a pretty painful experience – I’ve tried with a few other YouTubers but I never get very far.
These videos were being uploaded when I was off sick from work with a pulled chest muscle so I was spending a lot of time either in bed or lying on my sofa. They gave me great comfort and kept me entertained when I couldn’t do much.
If you’ve ever wanted to check out Dark Souls but haven’t for some reason I’d more than recommend this series.
