Resident Evil Requiem – Jacksepticeye
Game synopsis: “A new era of survival horror arrives with Resident Evil Requiem, the latest and most immersive entry yet in the iconic Resident Evil series. Experience terrifying survival horror with FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, and dive into pulse-pounding action with legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy. Both of their journeys and unique gameplay styles intertwine into a heart-stopping, emotional experience that will chill you to your core.”
As someone that is a huge fan of the first-person Resident Evil games and also Leon Kennedy, this game is everything to me. I won’t comment too much on the actual game as I’m likely to mention it in a favourite games post at some point, but it was my most anticipated game ever since the rumours of it started after Village came out. Part of me does wish the rumours about the enemies being wendigoes was real though, that would have been really cool. It is fun to go back to classic zombies though.
My rule for new Resident Evil games is to watch Jacksepcticeye’s playthrough before anyone else. Well that rule is for all games really, he’s been my go to for the longest time. We have very similar brains, to the point that I’ll sometimes make the same joke just before he does. Sitting down to watch these episodes each day became my little routine and I loved it. There’s nothing better than a long playthrough being uploaded daily.
The excitement he feels for this game is something I can highly relate to. You can tell throughout the entire playthrough just how much he’s loving the game. It feels rare for YouTubers to show such genuine joy when playing a game. Jacksepticeye is not the type of content creator that pretends to like something for views. He doesn’t mince his words and he’s always brutally honest when it comes to how he feels about a game. Which I love.
One of my favourite things about Jacksepticeye’s playthroughs are the detailed reviews he gives at the end. I love knowing which parts he loved, what he thought of the story, the graphics etc. Especially as this game looked insanely good and as it’s the end of the main story, a requiem if you will, it feels even more significant.
This isn’t a post about why this game is great, however, I feel like I have to mention just how nostalgic it feels. You go back to so many familiar places, all of which tear your heart out – if you’re a fan of Resident Evil 2 they’ll really hit you in the gut.
I’ve only watched this series once, but it is 100% one I will return to in the future. You can’t go wrong with a Jackepticeye Resident Evil playthrough, which feels very obvious if you’ve read any of these posts before – I think I’ve talked about pretty much every single one of his Resident Evil playthroughs in this series. I’ve also mentioned various different YouTubers playthroughs of these games in this series. It’s one of my favourite franchises if you couldn’t tell.
