The Soul Thief by Kim Richardson
We’re still currently in the ‘these are the free books I got when I first bought my Kindle’ part of my Goodreads to be read and honestly, I probably should have known I would never read these. In my defence, when I first got my Kindle I was still a student and would rarely buy myself books. That was before I realised Kindle constantly has hundreds of books on sale for 99p and now I have way too many books.
I did actually read a few of the free books at first but the ones in today’s post never made the cut apparently. I’ll still be keeping these on my Kindle but they are currently in a collection called ‘maybe read’, which I will only look at if I run out of other books – not likely to happen.
That was a very long winded way of saying I will be removing this book. Absolutely nothing against the author, I know nothing about them, it’s just that I have other books that I want to read more. The synopsis does sound pretty interesting though so who knows? Maybe I will read this at some point.
Verdict: remove
Synopsis: Alexa has a very big problem. She’s dead.
Worse, instead of meeting her maker, she’s pulled into the world of the Guardian Angel Legion—a secret band of angels dedicated to protect mortal souls from demons.
But Alexa’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she’s sent back to the mortal world to investigate a series of murders and missing souls and is attacked by a demon. But are demons responsible for the killings? Or is it something else?
To make matters even worse, an ancient, evil shadow grows over the world, and with it a force more terrible and destructive than the world has ever seen. Can Alexa find a way to stop it or will it doom the mortal world forever?
Daughter of Time by Sarah Woodbury
Writing this post is the first time I’ve read the synopsis for this book. If I had read it back in 2019 when I got this for free, I probably wouldn’t have downloaded it in the first place. Is that quite harsh to say? Maybe, but the whole point of including this book in this post is to say that I will be removing it from my Goodreads and will likely never think about it again.
Verdict: remove
Synopsis: Daughter of Time tells the story of a young widow, Meg, healing from the pain of a brief, unhappy marriage, who falls through time into the Middle Ages — and into the arms of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, the last Prince of Wales. He saves her, and she in turn saves him, thanks to her knowledge of future events. Although powerful forces seek to divide them, by working together, Meg and Llywelyn have a chance to navigate the dangerous and shifting alliances that constantly undermine his rule and threaten the very existence of Wales — and to create a future in which Llywelyn’s death does not come too soon.
Darkness of Light by Stacey Marie Brown
I’m actually looking forward to moving past the free Kindle book part of this series. I’ll be honest and say I downloaded most of them without reading the synopsis so I know nothing about the books or authors. This one doesn’t have particularly bad reviews but after checking out the top review, I’m glad I’m giving this one a miss. It sounds a little too juvenile for my tastes now, but I potentially would have liked it back when I first downloaded it.

Synopsis: Freak. Witch. Crazy.
Ember Brycin has always known she’s different. After finding her mother brutally murdered, her mind begins to see things that shouldn’t exist. The more she feels her sanity slipping, the more bizarre and inexplicable things constantly happen around her.
When the latest school explosion lands her in a facility for troubled youth, she meets Eli Dragen—a hot as hell, darkly mysterious, bad boy from a notorious biker gang. Their connection is full of passion, danger, and secrets. Secrets that will destroy her life and lead her down a path she could never imagine.
A pawn in a war between the Fae.
In the middle of Light and Dark, Ember finds another world where truth and knowledge are power and no one can be trusted.
No one.
