FATHER BLACKWOOD: Ms. Spellman, we’ve heard reports of levitation. The slaughter of angels. The resurrection of dead witches. How does a first-year, half-mortal student manage that?
SABRINA: You know the story of Pandora, don’t you, Father Blackwood? It’s almost a parable. A cautionary tale. The gods give Pandora a jar containing all the sorrows of the world. Toil, famine, pestilence, death. They armed her for vengeance, Father Blackwood. For destruction. So when you ask me to explain these “miracles,” as you call them, I feel I must warn you. SABRINA: Great, they’re all terrified of me.
NICK: Can you blame ’em? I mean, you died and then brought yourself back to life, which is, it goes without saying, a paradox. The word that keeps coming up is “miracles.”
SABRINA: What’s weird is that they are things I’ve never done before. My friend Roz was blind, then I made it so she can see again. Without a spell or a sacrifice.
NICK: That’s not how our witchcraft works. There’s always an incantation.
SABRINA: Maybe it’s because I’m not a normal witch. I mean, I’ve always assumed being half-mortal made me less than, in some way. But maybe being half-mortal is what’s allowing me to tap into these other… mystical energies. And maybe… maybe I was given these gifts so that I can make the world a better place. That could be why my father’s vision for the future of the Church of Night hinged on the union between witches and mortals. Because it would produce…
NICK: You.
SABRINA: Witches 2.0. I think that’s why I came back, Nick, to spread his gospel.
NICK:Well, be careful. The Council won’t like being challenged by a 16-year-old girl. On the contrary, they’ll silence you.
SABRINA: They can try.
HILDA: Oh! “Mortals and witches.” Side by side. Two by two. It’s like Noah’s bloody Ark.
ZELDA: It’s diabolical, and not in the good way.
Final thoughts and fun facts
Ms Wardwell/Lilith pulls a rib from her side to create “Adam,” just as how in the Genesis story God takes a rib from Adam to create Eve. We love a feminist queen. She steals the show to be honest.
I love that when Sabrina wants to fly off the roof to prove to mortal that witches are real she feels the need to use a broom because witches always fly on brooms right? The fact that she literally flying won’t make a difference unless there’s a broom underneath her.
