Best character

Lily’s great-aunt is so cool. She needs no explanation.

Favourite scene

*I do not own the rights to any videos in this post, no copyright infringement was intended. All rights go to the production studio*

I couldn’t find any clips for this episode which is a shame because the scene where Dash goes to the TDF is brilliant. I love it when the worker calls the Phantom by his actual name, I’ve put it in the next section.

Best quotes and one liners

DASH: Hey. Can I get the red notebook that Lily gave to you last night?

DOV: I don’t have it.

DASH: Where is it?

DOV: She didn’t leave it.

DASH: What do you mean? She didn’t come?

DOV: No, she did. That girl’s wild, man. Busted some exquisite moves in her bizarro red boots.

DASH: Look, you’ you don’t know me, but I’m like the Phantom.

TDF WORKER: His name is Eric.

DASH: Right, no, Eric. And just like Eric, I, too, wear a mask. Not literally, but I don’t let people get to know me. But, um, this girl, a girl I’ve only met through her words. She gets me.

DASH: I’m not really a guy that believes in things.

MRS BASIL E: You believed you could find a girl with a boot.

DASH: Could you just tell me where she is?

MRS BASIL E: Her grandfather, my brother, will never let you see her. He guards her like a jewel. He won’t even let me see her. Well, there was an incident with the Blue Man Group.

MRS BASIL E: Are you all right, my dear?

LILY: To be honest, um, a little rocky.

MRS BASIL E: That’s because you only have one boot.

LILY: How do you know?

MRS BASIL E: A young man tracked it to me.

DASH: Notebook Boy?

MRS BASIL E: Very impressive detective work. The work of someone who really cares.

LILY: He wouldn’t if he’d seen me. I was a disaster. It was embarrassing.

MRS BASIL E: He’s worried about you.

LILY: He’s worried about the girl in his head, and last night, I proved that I’m not her. I tried to be, but I blew it. If he knew, he wouldn’t be looking for me.

MRS BASIL E: If you have your doubts, you could always ask him yourself. I had him keep the boot, just in case. After all, it’s the prince who returns the shoe, not the fairy godmother.

Final thoughts and fun facts

Dyker Heights is so beautiful. I’d love to see it someday.

Lily’s voiceover states that the word “abracadabra,” comes from the Arabic phrase “avra kadabra,” meaning “I create as I speak.” While the meaning of the phrase “avra kadabra” is correct, in fact, the phrase comes from Aramaic and Hebrew, not from Arabic.
