Re-Watch Review: New Girl S1-EP20

Episode synopsis

S1 EP20 – Normal: Jess invites Russell to stay overnight at her place and is worried about how the guys will react. Winston gets a job at a radio station but finds it is not what he thought it would be. Nick pitches one of his marketing ideas to Russell.

Cast

Zooey Deschanel…Jess Day

Jake Johnson…Nick Miller

Max Greenfield…Schmidt

Lamorne Morris…Winston Bishop

Hannah Simone…Cece Parekh

Dermot Mulroney…Russell Shiller

Best character

I feel so bad for Jess in this episode. It was obviously great to Russell getting on with the boys (even if I only like Jess with Nick) but he really didn’t treat her great.

Favourite scenes

Best quotes and one liners

SCHMIDT: You’re listening to the radio and writing with a pen? What decade are we in?

WINSTON: Elvin, listen, buddy. I think we should talk. You know I’m not going to be here forever, right?

ELVIN: I know about death, Winston. I know there’s no farm where dogs and grandpas go.

NICK: I could show you around. I could show you our world. Way up here, it’s crystal-clear. JESS: Nick, you’re doing Aladdin.

NICK: Again?

SCHMIDT: Would you line up around the corner if they called the iPhone a “slippery germ brick”?

NICK: Yeah, actually, I might.

SCHMIDT: That’s why they call it basketball and not “peach basket catch-it-up.”

NICK: You just came up with that?

JESS: These are hangover eggs. See, they’ll either stop you from throwing up the rest of the day or you’ll just throw it up really fast. It’s high-risk, high reward.

Final thoughts and fun facts

To this day I still don’t understand True American, but that’s ok because I don’t think anyone does. The whole scene is brilliant, but this isn’t a great episode for one liners and stuff.
