Beautiful YA covers are becoming somewhat of a problem for me. I cannot resist buying books with beautiful covers and it’s hurting my bank balance.
I know these posts are probably making me come across as shallow because a lot of the time the covers are what made me buy the book, although I do have to say that two of these were arcs that I had been sent, however, I would have brought them anyway let’s be honest.
So I have again decided to talk about a few more of my favourite covers. Also, I have included the Goodreads synopsis and my review of each of these books just incase the covers have piqued your interest.
The Night Country (The Hazel Wood #2) by Melissa Albert

Although it has quite a simplistic design, this simplicity coupled with the blue sprayed edges makes for a stunning cover. It is not very noticeable from the photo however the foliage surrounding the outer sides of the cover are foil and for me, any book with foiling on the cover is a winner.
Goodreads synopsis: “The highly anticipated sequel to Melissa Albert’s beloved, New York Times bestselling debut The Hazel Wood!
In The Night Country, Alice Proserpine dives back into a menacing, mesmerizing world of dark fairy tales and hidden doors. Follow her and Ellery Finch as they learn The Hazel Wood was just the beginning, and that worlds die not with a whimper, but a bang.
With Finch’s help, Alice escaped the Hinterland and her reclusive grandmother’s dark legacy. Now she and the rest of the dregs of the fairy tale world have washed up in New York City, where Alice is trying to make a new, unmagical life. But something is stalking the Hinterland’s survivors―and she suspects their deaths may have a darker purpose. Meanwhile, in the winking out world of the Hinterland, Finch seeks his own adventure, and―if he can find it―a way back home…”
The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

I brought The Deathless Girls purely because of its cover. There was something about it that drew me in and I couldn’t deny buying it. Also lets be honest the title sounds pretty cool too.
It is definitely the animals that drew me into this cover. Although it is obviously a static image it seems to hold a lot of character and you can almost see movement in the animals. Well at least that’s what it looks like to me.
The colours are also another big part as to why I love this cover. The muted autumnal colours really suit my taste and I love all of the smaller details which are not necessarily; noticeable at first glance.
Goodreads synopsis: “They say the thirst of blood is like a madness – they must sate it. Even with their own kin.
On the eve of her divining, the day she’ll discover her fate, seventeen-year-old Lil and her twin sister Kizzy are captured and enslaved by the cruel Boyar Valcar, taken far away from their beloved traveller community.
Forced to work in the harsh and unwelcoming castle kitchens, Lil is comforted when she meets Mira, a fellow slave who she feels drawn to in a way she doesn’t understand. But she also learns about the Dragon, a mysterious and terrifying figure of myth and legend who takes girls as gifts.
They may not have had their divining day, but the girls will still discover their fate…”
