The Best Of: Comfort Films and TV Shows #2

I’ve decided that I won’t be doing introductions for all of these posts as there’s only so many ways to say I’m talking about comfort films and TV shows again. This post is also really short because I’ve been crazy busy lately, sorry!

The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement

Another classic from my childhood that I have seen hundreds of times. Not sure if itโ€™s controversial to like the second film more than the first, but come on Chris Pine is in this one! The enemies-to-lovers trope is immaculately done here and honestly, the entire film is just *chefโ€™s kiss*.

I get a real sense of escapism with this film and the idea of being told you are actually a princess and then a year later you find out youโ€™re going to be queen is pretty incredible. Like most young girls at that time, the idea of being a princess was magical and finally getting to see Genovia after hearing about it in the first film was incredible.ย I did think it was a real place for an embarrassingly long time.

I am very, very tempted to watch this film at some point this week as Iโ€™m in real need of a pick me up and what better way to do that than watch one of your comfort films?

Synopsis: Mia (Anne Hathaway), still coming to terms with her life as a princess, graduates from Princeton. She returns to Genovia, and her best friend, Lilly (Heather Matarazzo), goes with her. When they arrive, Mia’s grandmother (Julie Andrews) informs her that Mia cannot become queen unless she is married within 30 days. Nicholas Devereaux (Chris Pine) is one of her top suitors, though he is more interested in the crown than Mia. But when Nicholas realizes he loves Mia, he decides not to pursue her.
