Wild Child (2008)
I actually remember going to see this in the cinema way back when it came out and I still love it just as much. It’s so very British and honestly, it’s rare to find a teen film that isn’t set in America. I think that’s part of why I find this so comforting. I didn’t go to a private school but having it set in the UK does give it some level of nostalgia. I’m very into nostalgia if you couldn’t tell from the previous three posts in this series.
The only part that’s a little annoying is how obvious it is that it was written by an American. There are so many Americanisms used throughout, not just by Poppy. But I love this film so I can overlook them. Plus, this isn’t something I picked up on as a kid. Having Drippy offer Poppy a Wagon Wheel makes up for it.
Once again I am going to look like I was completely boy crazy as a teen (I really wasn’t) but Alex Pettyfer is ridiculously swoon-worthy in this. Probably helps that he’s basically the only young male in it, but I think everyone agrees that his charisma is off the charts in this film.
This is another film that I want to watch again soon and thankfully it’s on Netflix (I’m pretty sure I have the DVD too) so I can actually watch it.
Sorry for the short post today, but I did a re-watch review of this film last year, you can check it out here: Re-Watch Review: Wild Child
Synopsis: A rebellious Malibu princess is sent off to a strict English boarding school by her father. Unwilling to accept the strict regime, she decides to misbehave, in the hope of being dismissed from school.
