The Greatest Showman
When I tell you I was shocked this came out in 2017 it is not a lie. I can’t believe it’s been over five years since The Greatest Showman came out. I remember watching it for the first time and being completely blown away by the music, costumes and settings.
This film is unlike most of my other comfort films in that it is fairly new. Usually, my checklist for a comfort film involves nostalgia, but not here. I’m a HUGE fan of movie musicals and The Greatest Showman might just be my favourite ever. I love it so much, the songs are just too good.
One thing I wish was different about the film was more Zendaya. They only had her singing on one song which is a crime. Rewrite the Stars is one of my favourite film scenes of all time. The song is perfection and the choreography is *chef’s kiss*. Makes me ridiculously happy every time I see or hear it.
Synopsis: Growing up in the early 1800s, P.T. Barnum displays a natural talent for publicity and promotion, selling lottery tickets by age 12. After trying his hands at various jobs, P.T. turns to show business to indulge his limitless imagination, rising from nothing to create the Barnum & Bailey circus. Featuring catchy musical numbers, exotic performers and daring acrobatic feats, Barnum’s mesmerizing spectacle soon takes the world by storm to become the greatest show on Earth.
